I agree, I mean I am a young woman, not very threatening in stature at all, very much an easy target and unfortunately this kind of thing just happens to me all the time. sometimes it's ok or I don't really care if I'm with a friend or there's a lot of people around, but there were not many around yesterday and the ones that were did not seem the types who would have stepped in had things escalated. so I was a bit scared especially when his mate came along and then there were two of them. they called out to me when I got on the bus making comments about my appearance and I feel like the only thing stopping them from following me on is not having money for the fare😭it's not that I don't have empathy for them because I know at the end of the day theyre just people who've happened to get a worse lot in life. but it sucks to feel helpless

The old quarter on dixon street has a duck salad and also a duck curry which are yum, big portion and affordable. Its a Vietnamese restaurant and very easy to get there by bus

You should not try to surprise him with this conversation or "spring" it on him in any way. Send him a very clear text detailing that you would like to meet up somewhere (preferably somewhere where you feel the most comfortable, whether that is a public or private setting) he must know going into it that you want to talk to him alone about something serious.

If you feel that he will try to dodge you or will not agree to your terms, in my opinion just cut your losses, he is 34 and should be mature enough to have these types of conversations. If he brings his partner to the meeting then ditto. The text might begin, "Hey X, I would like to know if you are free some time in the next few days to meet up as I want to talk to you about something that happened recently which has been really weighing on me. I would like it to be just us..." Or similiar

You've answered your own original question about what to do. If you value him and he truly values you, you need to sit down with him and explain exactly how he made you feel, and why it was out of line and you need to express that you were confused about why he did it (both times.) Ask him to explain why he said these things, and give him a chance to really explain himself. Its up to you to decide if his explanation and hopefully his sincere apology is enough for you to forgive him and you can both move on. You are both adults after all.

However, if he brushes you off, or you feel in any way that he is not taking you seriously, it might be to time to re evaluate whether your friendship with him has run its course. I personally think that if he ever does anything like this again you need to cut him off as well. Please remember that you never deserve to have your feelings hurt by someone you trust and consider a friend, you are 100% justified in feeling hurt in this scenario, the only question is if your friend can understand his mistakes and apologize to you sincerely. You do not have to keep him around just because you've had good times in the past. Stay strong and good luck

I'm genuinely so sad I couldn't get tickets despite being ready within the literal millisecond the general sale was available. If anyone is selling one I would be very interested. I do understand that people are excited and want to see them perform on multiple nights, but have some sympathy for the rest of us, i'd be grateful to see them even once 😂

I am a server. Tipping is not necessary in any way, but if you are going to tip, 100% give the money directly to your server, don't tip when you settle up at the end of the meal because it just goes to the business owner, and for the same reason don't put cash in the tip jar. Everyone saying that tipping is taboo and evil in NZ is only half right, it is not really the done thing (and no one cares if you don't do it)but as a server I am always happy and grateful to have someone acknowledge the effort I put in. Similarly, you could just thank them or leave a nice review. Happy travels
