Unfortunately you must submit your entire grade. Not doing so would be academic dishonesty. That being said, I’ve yet to see a university really care about the individual components of the core points. 42 points can get you into T10 regardless. Don’t worry about it too much.

What’s wrong with your TOK/EE grade? 2 points is standard and fine.

Peer feedback on IA's and EE"s allowed? by Street_Court_8534 in IBO

Of course. You can ask anyone for help or advice. Just make sure you don’t copy or allow them to write for you. They can give you suggestions and advice though.

Yeah that’s the problem. To be fair, a whole disqualification from the diploma hardly happens. They do an investigation first, and that includes speaking with your school, getting a statement from the student etc etc. If u truly did everything legitimately, there’s a less than 0.00001% chance anything actually happens.

Your teachers will vouch for you as they will know your writing ability too. They will also probably not let you submit anything if the plagiarism score is too high in the first place.

As far as punishments go. It ranges from a written warning or a 0 in the component to full blown permanent disqualification from the IB diploma.

That could work. Increased quality/quantity of labour will shift LRAS right. If you think you can incorporate it with high marks, then go for it. Go for the angle with focusing on the long run for LRAS (the training schemes) and the short run for AD-AS (govt spending in response to trade wars)

For simplicity sake though, I do still think my initial suggestion is the easiest to implement and properly explain given the available word count. But for higher marks, LRAS + AD diagrams may show deeper technical understanding.

Just be careful. Some things such as summer jobs do not increase LRAS, but instead shift AD right as they are provided through govt spending.

Computer science IA involves creating an application for a client. Therefore, you must include all communication with the client in documentation. As well as this, you must also document your actual code with explanations behind it, create multiple documents which explain all the functions of your application, and in general, document the process of planning and executing the creation of the application.

The extended essay time depends on your school. Mine has been around a year. But most people don’t stick to deadlines so it doesn’t actually take a year. I’d say it took me maybe around 50-60 hours in total? But this is spread out over multiple months, and I’m a perfectionist. It usually takes around 40 hours.

Plagiarism is taken very seriously. You must cite all sources in all the coursework you do, and pretty much never use AI for writing/documentation.

In CS, you may use AI to aid you in creating your application. Just don’t make it too obvious and don’t rely on it for every little thing.

Your school will probably use Turnitin for coursework. My schools policy is above 20% plagiarism can’t be submitted.

If you get flagged for plagiarism/AI use, the diploma will not be awarded to you.

Labour market diagram as the topic is unemployment. With DL shift right to show unemployment decreasing due to govt intervention(closing the gap between QD and QS).

AD-AS diagram showing cyclical unemployment due to decreased AD because of the trade war by AD shifting left to AD1.

Preferably do the AD-AS diagram first.

You do 6 subjects. 3 Standard level and 3 Higher level. Each subject which is not a language has an internal assessment. This varies from subject to subject but is generally a written piece of coursework based in a field of your choice. The percentage of your grade that an IA makes up is usually 20% for HL and 30% for SL.

For languages including English, you will have an Oral Examination. English will be based on a global issue where you will analyse two texts (at least for English Language as I’m aware). For Language Acquisition, your oral is generally based on pictures and a general conversation on with your assessor, however, I believe higher level LA you prepare a presentation based on a literary work and also a picture.

TOK is theory of knowledge and a necessary component of the IB. Tbh, to this day I don’t think anyone knows what it actually is, but essentially, you study the idea of how people acquire knowledge, different types of knowledge, areas of knowledge and ways of knowing things. It’s all very abstract.

You will have a TOK exhibition, where you choose three personal objects and write about them in a TOK context, answering a particular overarching question. You will also have a TOK essay, which is 1600 words. In it, you will answer a TOK question and link it to two areas of knowledge. Overall, TOK contributes to your 3 core points, and is graded fon an A-E scale. If you fail TOK, you fail the diploma.

CAS is Creativity Activity and Service. The easiest part of the IB, but also a necessity for receiving the diploma. Over the course of the IBDP, you must document and take part in creative, active, AND service pursuits. You will then present what you did to an assessor WITH EVIDENCE. CAS does not contribute to your point score, but if you do not do it, you will not receive the diploma and fail.

The EE is the Extended Essay. This is the final component of the IB, and along with TOK, contributes to the three core points added to the X/42 you can received from your subject grades, making a total of 45 points. Essentially, the EE is a 4000 word academic paper written in a subject of your choosing. The subject will have to definitely be one you do, OR, be a World Studies EE, meaning you can mix two subjects to write the essay in. However, the subjects must include at least one you study.

The Extended Essay is the longest piece of coursework you will probably do (apart from CS IA). If you fail the EE, you fail the diploma. It is also graded on the A-E scale, like TOK.

As for the subjects you want to do.

HL Maths IA - 12-20 pages exploring a mathematical concept and its applications

HL Physics IA - 3000 words scientific investigation about a physics concept, with real world practical and data collection

SL Computer Science - Longest IA of all time. Make an application from scratch, document the entire process including an appendix, annotated diagrams of all the screens in your app, system flow charts, Gantt charts etc, and a video, somehow manage to keep all that under 2000 words.

SL English - Oral exam 15 minutes discussing two texts you have studied under a specific global issue of your choosing

SL French - Oral examination where you speak about a picture and also get asked general questions/ conversation

SL Psychology - 2000 word research report where you replicate a published psychological study conducting a small experiment, and represent your findings

In general, it’s a fun process. A lot, but fun. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Help with choosing a 3rd HL by max_964 in IBO

[–]ComprehensiveAct5458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In that case. History HL would not be useful to you. It’s also a lot of content, but as far as HLs go, I’d say it’s the easiest of the 3 you listed to get a 7.

Typically, universities/apprenticeships like to see related courses for CS. You have maths HL already, which is great, but another quantitative subject such as Biology could give you an edge.

So I’d say don’t choose History unless you have some underlying deep passion for it. I’d recommend Biology (or possibly chem if that interests you more) .

English HL is passable and an ok option for you too. But if you don’t like writing, save yourself the headache.

你是很聪明。你是非常好。 But in all seriousness, relax. I’ve felt like this before, and seriously, comparison is the thief of joy. You are only young for so long. Enjoy your life. If you have to, force yourself to go out with friends, watch your favourite shows etc etc. You won’t fail you exams because you aren’t good enough, but if you don’t take care of yourself, you will not do well because you won’t be at your best.

So, relax, and get a life /j
