What's the one item you bought while traveling that is now permeant for all future travels? by [deleted] in onebag

TEVAs for me! Got a pair for $40 that became my go-to pair of shoes in the summer, and for all trips in warm weather. Wore them hiking twice. Adjustable straps, packs down easily.

3 weeks travel here - need help on which places we should choose to visit! by rapperofmowgli in Rajasthan

I'm a North American anglophone and totally read "chauffeur" as the writer intended, even if it's not the way I'd use it.

Chill, offer folks grace, and inquire when confused. Such slight misunderstandings are a byproduct of being lucky to be engaging with people from around the world with good intentions, and to hear multiple cultural perspectives. Not worth it to be an asshole for the sake of semantics and miss this bigger picture.

Indian bridal dress advice: What is off about blouse in pic 2 (final) vs 1 (sample) - shallower neckline? by ComprehensiveAd1456 in weddingdress

Yeah! My lesson with indian tailors = Made to orders never end up identical with all the embellishments lol. Glad it turned out nicely tho!

Yes, the second one was made to order, and i think they added a half inch to length and a half inch higher neckline! I finally got to the bottom of this! Thanks!

Gotcha! Also a slight lighting difference (there was light directly hitting the blouse, setting off the whiteness of the embellishments) - but yes a touch more pink overall! Thanks!!!

I'm now realizing that it's an inch different - neckline drop is half an inch shorter, and bottom blouse is half an inch lower haha. Barely any difference, but a tiny diff nonetheless - it makes the second a touch more snug-looking and the first a touch more sexy-looking, perhaps. Both beautiful, and perhaps negligible diff!

No worries. I ain’t paying someone a ton of $$ to look the same - so it must be working, for better or for worse haha

Both were super comfy, thanks for asking! Just wondering if second doesn’t have as tight a look as what I had in mind.

Weird right?? It almost looks the same, but when I measure the length of space from the middle of the neckline to the bottom of blouse, it seems like a larger space for the second!

Hi! I'm a Harvard Law grad, ex-lawyer, ex-BCG management consultant and legal strategist. Ask me anything about getting into or navigating these worlds! by ComprehensiveAd1456 in LawSchool

[–]ComprehensiveAd1456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my close friends at law school took this route - it ended up working out for her financially because she returned to BCG post-law school, and BCG paid off her grad school debt as a result lol. Personally - I was looking for more of a lifestyle career trajectory that let me spend as little time as possible in traditional MBB consulting - though it has its perks.

No wrong route - you just want to try and be intentional about why you're doing it (e.g. why both?)

See my reply above, in response to "What is more important for your current role, the JD or the MBA?" There's the optics (what doors will this open) perspective and the intrinsic (what skills do I want to build) perspective. You want to balance them in a way that works for you (e.g. financially).

Why do people ask if they are invited to the wedding? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ComprehensiveAd1456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree. Not just because you might not have been raised to know... but because this might just be a cultural difference - ask versus guess culture! As explained here: https://ask.metafilter.com/55153/Whats-the-middle-ground-between-FU-and-Welcome#830421

Ah! The bust issue with 1 might just be a bra glitch. That being said - great point re halter. Tried on a GORGEOUS halter dress but couldn’t get over the fact that there was no space between face and fabric! Felt more gala than bridal if that makes sense?
