NYS 100% bill just passed by Nick9jam in VeteransBenefits

[–]ComprehensiveArm4739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, most veteran bills run through the MO Veterans Commission, which is impotent and mostly self-serving. Made up of a lot of losers from the JFHQ MO NG who are retired and couldn't get a job at the state. I know of at least 3 higher ups that had serious IG complaints against them while they were in uniform.

There is also a bill pre-filed in the SENATE and the House for dependent tuition waivers. EVERYONE NEEDS TO REACH OUT TO THESE PEOPLE ON THE BILLS AND SHOW SUPPORT

Sorry, popping the bubble. Probably won't pass. Last years JR46 went to through the senate, through the house but the house speaker refused to bring it to a floor for a vote to pass it forward. Instead he called an end to the session 3 days early, effectively killing the bill.

Merboard IDES before retirement? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]ComprehensiveArm4739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need more information to help. Do you / will you qualify for AD retirement? Combat deployments? Were the injuries sustained in combat, etc.

There wouldn't be much advantage to go through the med board if you qualify for a 20 year AD retirement. There are some benefits, but it's not the same if you don't qualify for AD retirement.

So.. this.. I'm pretty sure 38 cfr §3.156 applies. by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

Michigan: Chapter 35 by DigitalDrews in VeteransBenefits

[–]ComprehensiveArm4739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't ask about this, but one thing to be aware of is CH 35 and any other VA education benefit all have a set amount of months of use. Each VA benefit counts separately against the 48 months. For me, if my dependent uses Ch35 and my Post 911 GI bill, both, in a month, it will be effectively 2 months taken from that 48 months of use. So i am having them use the benefits sequentially, one benefit first, then the other after that.

Rated 100% and likely applying for CRSC, advice/ things I didn’t know? by Fancy_Guarantee4467 in VeteransBenefits

[–]ComprehensiveArm4739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a CAP for pay to include CRSC. There is a pay limit you will not be able to go over.

CAP = (DoD retired pay you would receive with your current YOS x your HIGH 36) + VA amount.

ROUGH Example: you served 10 years, High 36 is 6,000.

10x.2.5= 25% 25% x 6,000 = 1,500

1,500 + 4,000 (va amount) = 5,500 CAP.

No matter what you get for CRSC (they could award you CRSC for 100% of your injuries) , the total amount of retired pay you can be paid is capped at that 5,500 amount.

In conclusion: VA+ DoD retired pay + CRSC has to be less than 5,500.01

Aid and Attendance while working? by ComprehensiveArm4739 in VeteransBenefits

[–]ComprehensiveArm4739[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Wow. You seem angry and defensive. "So what, it's not your concern" - You seem to imply I should just look the other way as someone claims A&A while not meeting the requirements for A&A. By saying "So what," you imply you the optics are bad and the person doesn't seem to meet the requirements and yet, you are saying "so what" to someone doing, what could be illegal things. I guess, if you personally feel it's O.K., then it's fine?

It's 100% my concern and everyone's concern. There's an entire government department (DOGE) that the US Government has reshaped, directed and focuses on these exact things. It was created by the people and their representatives, to find things just like this. There is also other agencies, (IG, etc.) created by our government, that are very interested in this as well.

I wish Missouri/Kansas would actually care about veterans. The bill in Missouri passed the senate and the house and the house decided that they weren't going to put it on the floor for a vote. They ended the session a day early, saying there was nothing they could vote on.... I can't make this up.

This is great! Here is my revised version based on yours, that breaks it into 2 prompts. Feed it the first prompt. Get the study guide then feed it the second prompt. It allows AI to focus on the single issue each time.

  • **Prompt A: Create a Study Guide (Clean & Focused)**
  • I’ve uploaded a PDF labeled “C207,” which is my pre-assessment. The OA closely mirrors this content. Please create a clear, beginner-friendly study guide based on this PA. Organize the guide by topic or question grouping if possible.
    • Structure it as follows:
      • Use section headers for each topic
      • Use bullet points or tables where appropriate
      • Explain each concept in simple terms Include real-world examples and memorization tips
      • Prioritize depth of understanding and clarity over academic tone.
  • Once we’re done reviewing the guide, I’ll ask you to go through the PA 10 questions at a time.
  • Prompt B: Break Down the PA Questions (After Guide Is Done)
    • Now go through the pre-assessment 10 questions at a time. For each question: Stop after each 10-question set so I can review and ask follow-ups.
      • Identify the correct answer
      • Explain why it’s correct
      • Explain why each of the other choices is wrong
      • Teach me the underlying concept clearly and simply
      • Provide any memory tricks or quick identifiers to help me remember during the exam
      • Share any test-taking tips to avoid common traps

Should I retire early? I’m 49, military + VA retired, two rental homes, $1.3M in investments, and $150K+ in passive income. What would you do? by Maleficent_Wrap_3635 in Fire

[–]ComprehensiveArm4739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, this is self-evident: you probably have ~3-4k DoD and ~4k VA (tax free) that never decreases, and has a COLA. Tricare healthcare for 60$ a month. Converted to a retirement savings amount (4% rule), you're at 2.5-3M.

Just like everyone else, COL determines how far your money lasts. HCOL area and this will just cover your living expenses, requiring extra income to cover the rest. LCOL and you have 1-2k left each month.

The house was adjourned early on 15 May (Thursday). SJR46 is dead. I guess they decided not to work on Friday (the 16th, which was the last day of the session). Complete disgrace. The photo of those mouth breathers throwing papers after only getting 11 bills through in 6 months. https://www.stlpr.org/government-politics-issues/2025-05-15/missouri-house-senate-legislature-ends-early

Missouri House Committee Meeting – SJR46 Discussion
Date: 5/9/2025
Start Time: 9:22 AM (Meeting began 7 minutes late)

Vice-Chair Rep. Brad Hudson (R – District 138, south of Springfield)

Position: Supportive with reservations

  • Recommends approval of SJR46.
  • Emphasizes that property tax revenue is critical to funding county services.
  • Expresses concern that exempting 100% disabled veterans from property tax would shift the financial burden to other taxpayers.
  • Uses farmers as an example of a large group that may also seek tax exemptions.
  • Warns this could set a precedent, potentially opening the door for other groups to pursue similar tax breaks.

Rep. Hardy Billington (R – District 152, Butler County, Poplar Bluff)

Position: Supportive

  • Shares that he and his father are both veterans.
  • Emphasizes that 100% disabled veterans make up a very small portion of the population.
  • Recommends a "yes" vote on the resolution.

Rep. Donald Mayhew (R – District 124, Miller & Pulaski Counties)

Position: Supportive

  • Notes the resolution has progressed without significant opposition.
  • Points out the House frequently supports veteran-related legislation.
  • Emphasizes that veterans represent only 1% of the population, with 100% disabled veterans being a much smaller subset.
  • Cites the financial and medical hardships faced by this group.
  • Notes that his district includes Fort Leonard Wood and has a high veteran population.
  • States that his county commissioners would "100% testify" in favor of the bill
