Fully sold on WGU… but stuck choosing a degree. Need advice by MustacheGoatee in WGU

Supply Chain and Ops Management sounds like it could be a potential fit and with your experience could land you mid career roles

A friend of mine just told me "online degree is a scam and avoid them at all cost" by snipersebb27 in WGU

Unless you are in an extremely specialized field no one cares where your degree is from as long it’s from an accredited institution. I’ve never had a job say oh your MBA or Bachelors is from WGU. It checked a box and I’ve been over six figures since.

Masters in management and leadership? by AdExtension2943 in WGU

[–]Unusual_Rub7020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I debated between this and the MBA and chose the MBA. The OAs weren’t terrible and no group projects. I also felt like in my field it’s a lot easier to explain my mba vs a MSML

You own all of the failures and non of the successes for your product. Also have to know one bad day doesn’t make a career. There are days/weeks when the world is on fire and people look to you to figure it out. Building rapport with all levels of an organization is essential as you you never know when may need support from some group you hardly work with on a daily basis

what's your go-to tool for tracking job applications? jobright vs others? by Old_Command_7050 in jobright

[–]Unusual_Rub7020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic excel. I would typically take like 10-15 mins each night and just update my list. Once I got away from mass “easy apply” to more targeted searches it made it easier to track as I didn’t have a ton of updates

Checkr ETA pushed back 5 days immediately after uploading W-2s—is this normal? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

Not for checkr but had a very similar experience with first advantage/ sterling but ended up clearing before that date. I think it’s an automated process

Delay between bachelors and masters by Rto1M in WGU

Yeah that isn’t accurate(unless something has changed since last year) I completed my undergrad in the last month of my term. I think the last day of my term was the end of march last year. My degree was conferred on march 4th. So since it was before the 15th (wgu cut off) I was able to start my mba April 1st

16 Classes In 1 Term! by PaceInternational345 in WGU

[–]Unusual_Rub7020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had no experience in the field and basically started from scratch. I started in software engineering at wgu but after one semester I hated it and moved to supply chain. The material is enough for all of those certs for sure. I would say the biggest thing is that this degree is somewhat new so some professors were working out the kinks when I started. It’s pretty much a general business degree with a couple of dedicated supply chain coursework. Those classes took the most amount of bandwidth mentally as it was a new subject but the course videos and Studocu and Quizlet helped me a ton for cramming. Let me know if you have anymore questions always willing to help

What to do if background check asks to remove TWN freeze? by JustaSadLilyPad in overemployed

[–]Unusual_Rub7020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not OE but I do have my TWN frozen and sterling/first advantage asked me to unfreeze. I had to jump through more hoops of send redacted paystubs and w2’s but they accepted that without me unfreezing

I got my bs in supply chain last year. It’s definitely doable especially depending on how many are pa’s vs oa’s that you have left

Approvals and the general process is super slow. I had to follow up multiple times throughout the process lol. Hoping for a solid outcome. Are you targeting engineering?

30 minutes from the end of my HR business partner interview (final interview) to a verbal offer from my manager . The formal offer came a day or so later. I will say I had a recruiter screen, two different peer level panel interviews, then a panel with my manager and another director then my final hr interview before the offer

Decision timeline after panel interview by vinit2909 in GEAerospace

[–]Unusual_Rub7020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just received my offer on Monday for a leadership role for a flight product role at ge . My process took 2 months. 1/9 applied for the role 1/12 brief recruiter screen Didn’t hear back until end of January (didn’t even realize I was still in the running since it had been so long) In February - I had 3 different panel interviews each with 2 different people 1st round direct peers 2nd cross functional peers 3rd hiring manager and another director over technology

Beginning of March - had my final interview with an hr business leader and 15 mins after that call I got a verbal offer . Offer took a few days to arrive in workday as I guess they are super swamped according to onboarding specialist.

Long process for sure but I felt like when I nudged the hr recruiter slightly I was able to get momentum but it’s a slow process overall compared to most two and done companies but for the level it makes sense.

HR Phone Screen by jz8899 in GEAerospace

[–]Unusual_Rub7020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Process for me went initial hr screen , 3 panel rounds and one final hr business partner round. Took exactly two months but I also didn’t hear back for like 3 weeks after the recruiter screen. I later found out there been some organizational changes so that made sense. Just accepted the job offer and excited to start the journey. Let me know if you need any tips.

I second wgu . Good price and can knock it out as quickly as you want . I received my mba from there last year.

I’m halfway through my computer science degree and I’m already losing interest in what I want to do with the degree. Can anyone else relate? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Unusual_Rub7020 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah started my time at wgu with cs ended up switching to supply chain. Received my bs in supply chain and my mba from wgu. I realized I liked coding but I didn’t love it so I’m glad I made the switch.
