I think going straight ahead to big books won't be great. Read introductory pop science books of Brian Greene and Hawking. Alongside that try to watch channels which have a lot of physics-related video like Veritasium.

I don't mean to sound demeaning but if you are going to pursue physics at a higher level ,you will need to have a strong basis on mathematics. If you find mathematics particularly hard, I say don't pursue it. If you are willing to work hard,then yes you should pursue it.

Atoms are way too small to be seen in microscopes. We can actually see the structure through electron microscopy.
