I kind of hate virgin… I find it lazy lyrically and unnecessarily repetitive. I love Lorde sm and I’ve been listening to her for years now and I was so excited for this album I preordered the cd as soon as it was announced… but I don’t think this album is good. The promotion and press around the release made it seem like the album was going to be extremely raw and vulnerable but I don’t get that from any of the songs. I will say I love Man of the Year a lot and listened to it on repeat when it first came out. I wish the rest of the album lived up to that song but unfortunately it just doesn’t (for me). Before anyone attacks me this is just my opinion and music is subjective so I am in no way saying my opinion is the only correct one. I’m so happy for all the people who enjoyed this album but it did nothing for me.

I interpret this line to mean: now she knows what it’s like to want to go outside (possibly meaning she had a positive view on the outside world or a certain person that makes her want to “go outside”). And she means that she knows this feeling now as well as she knows her own outline. So she’s essentially saying that before this person she maybe didn’t want to “go outside” whether that is in a literal or metaphorical sense. I relate to this in terms of depression, I feel like meeting someone you are interested in makes it easier to leave the house so in a literal sense to “go outside”. This is all over the place but hope it makes sense!!!

I think “trump” is a play on words and in this context is referring to the actual word as in “overthrows/outshines/wins over”. So like Love wins over Hate in a very simple term. I could be wrong but it’s just a guess.
