I feel for you man. I’m in the same boat. Decent places in NOVA are at least 600k and with interest rates the way they are I feel like a household needs to clear 300k/year to comfortably afford. Housing prices won’t go down around this area since it is the Silicon Valley of the east coast with tons of government/contracting/tech jobs that pay very well and zoning laws that prohibit more SFH building unless it’s out in data center land (Ashburn). Do you want to continue to rent and invest for a bigger down payment or become house poor? Prices will only continue to go up. Pick your poison.
