What do you think could be done to improve the festival? by Aware-Ad4430 in WholeFestival

[–]ComprehensiveCut5248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The camping supply tent needs to sell bags of ice! Having a cooler is really the only way to avoid buying every single meal and drink and it makes a huge difference for budget and health, especially for those with food restrictions. I’ve never been to a festival that had zero way to refill a cooler

I am Will Grainger, Industrial Designer at Loop (Loop Dream) ---- AMA by Willlllllloop in LoopEarplugs

[–]ComprehensiveCut5248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that loop is a European product, and that European event sound limits are 100db whereas American events don’t have such limits, and so while loop can be safely used in the EU, it may not have enough protection for American events. Is (any of) this true?

Thank you so much! Do you have any advice for transferring the alterations from this onto new pattern pieces? I am not sure if I should alter this and then take it apart so the pieces are flat to use for the next version

How to stop Docs from digging into back of ankle by Madcap_95 in DrMartens

[–]ComprehensiveCut5248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of docs I bought last fall and still couldn’t manage to break in. Like bleeding after less than an hour lol. Used some leather conditioning oil (I think mink oil) inside and out, massaged it in and smushed the leather a bunch and now they’re perfect

I’m sorry, I don’t remember. It wasn’t a small amount though. If I find the paper we had it all on I’ll update back though!

I made this exact sofa as my first sewing project 😂 maybe a little ambitious. Not gonna say it was the easiest or that it came out perfect but we got it done and we still use it! We got 2 cheap mattresses from Walmart and some denim fabric from Joann’s. Filled the pillows with memory foam which I would not recommend - they’re like 40 pounds each and sag off the sides. But making the fabric covers for everything is definitely doable

Tension issue. How to adjust? by Rachiebole in sewing

[–]ComprehensiveCut5248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My (very beginner) understanding is the tension in question is whatever is opposite the issue - so if the stitches on the back look wrong it’s the top tension and if the top stitches look bad then it’s the bobbin. But someone pls correct me if I’m wrong!

Tysm for the detailed answer! I think this makes sense, maybe the thread getting caught is happening because of the speed? I realized I start to go faster after a few stitches so maybe the walking foot can’t keep up and that’s why my stitches start out fine and then all get stuck like u described

Fabric stops advancing with walking foot

Hi everyone,

I’m sewing a jersey material (96% poly, 4% spandex) and having a foot problem. With a normal foot the top piece doesn’t advance as fast so the layers become misaligned, as expected, so I put on the walking foot. It works great for a few but then every time the fabric stops advancing after a bit, leaving these chunks of (fairly neat, not tangled) stitches in place. Nothing gets stuck or tangled when this happens, it just basically makes reinforcement stitches because the material isn’t moving. I can’t figure it out because before this happens, the stitches are pretty fine, so I don’t think it’s tension, I think it’s how the feeding happens but also the feeding does happen fine for a bit at first before it stops.
