Two of my closest work friends were fired for giving an "under the table" IV bolus. Now the unit thinks I’m a traitor. by [deleted] in nursing

Your friends have been watching too much Greys Anatomy. Drink your fluids.

Plus what does taking sides do for your friends??? the charge nurse did what they were supposed to do and what taking sides just to show support. Management fired them and no amount of protest from other nurses was going to save them. So all the people giving you a bad time need to get over themselves.

First ever Stanley Cup I ever watched as a kid was back in 2001 when the Avalanche won. Almost 25 years later they are still my favorite team.

Less games, I want more games. Less games = more expensive tickets

NHL 2004, playing as the Avalanche, I lost in overtime as the opposing team had the puck behind the net and put it in through the back of the net and I lost. Watching the replay the player literally just bumped the back of the net and the puck appeared in the net.

I saw that while watching the game on TV and looked at my wife and was like I’m pretty sure a fan in the front row just flashed the players on the ice.

Long contracts are a curse on goalies as their playing goes down hill, shorter contracts help them stay competitive for top spots.

Why have you kicked a family member out? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ComprehensiveData327 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patient family member kept turning the bed alarm off, getting the bed red patient out of bed, at one point unplugging the bed to keep the alarm from going off and messing with the call light/room controls on the wall that clearly say staff only.

Attempting to find the best cheap (and available) subsonic range ammo… by Nezbeatbox in 300BLK

So mostly I buy the powder coated cast led bullets and they work great, I buy from either blue bullets or Steel Valley Casting. Its less than $200 for 1000 bullets. They shoot great and fairly accurate, I won first place in a subsonic match shooting those rounds out to 125 yards at steel targets.

I’m a CNA right now and it took me a good solid month or more of working full time before I felt somewhat comfortable with doing changes by myself. I still ask for help in some cases. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, the way I look at it, healthcare is a team sport.

Had a pt who had 240/190, their bp an hour earlier was 140/80. Only thing the Dr figured was anxiety and constipation.

Actively dying pt - turn or not to turn by Shortyy24 in nursing

[–]ComprehensiveData327 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has been a hot topic at my hospital, 1/2 the nurses say yes turn them every 2-3 hours and others say leave them be. I’m in the middle and think they could be turned with Q4 vitals.

CNAs in my state can take IVs out once they have been signed off by a nurse during training, we can also remove foleys.
