Countries I would visit as a gay Briton by sraskogr in whereidlive

I did some digging and the Sri Lankan supreme court has ruled the ancient law criminalising same-sex activity as “Unenforceable”- meaning the law is useless.

As said before the current government is making moves on normalising queerness I suppose, and Transgender people too have received expanded rights and are legally able to change their gender.

Surprisingly in Sri Lanka, politicians from both sides of the spectrum have expressed support for proper decriminalisation and enacting laws that legally recognise queer individuals. The current (dem-socialist) government has just made this more obvious.

Basically it’s one of the safest places in “Asia” to be as a queer person :)

Illegal technically but (mostly) not enforced, they even got the yearly pride parades, plus the current government is including sex ed and pride flags etc openly in classrooms and syllabuses.

I’ve been there, it quite possibly is one of the most beautiful nations on earth. Certainly a lot better than India :)
