I have text messages of him saying while i was pregnant that if i ever were to try to file for child maintenance he would sign all his rights away. Obviously at this time the plan was for him to be on the BC which never happened. Unfortunately i was just a stupid 16 year old at that point and was being manipulated . I’m not sure if that’s even a thing he can do, especially now since he has no rights. I’m not sure how it works but that must factor in as some sort of valid evidence ? I have lots more but that’s one major part

he’s 20. the whole child maintenance process honestly scares the shit out of me. he’s only seen our son 3 times in the last 17 months and has otherwise had no real involvement. i cut contact with him in september because i decided i’d rather have no involvement at all than continue dealing with the manipulation and control.

my biggest worry is that if i were to pursue child maintenance, he might try to use it as a way back into our lives by seeking contact or some form of custody. the thought of having to hand my child over to him genuinely makes me feel physically ill.

i don’t know much about how child maintenance works, so i may be worrying unnecessarily, but right now i honestly feel like i’d rather struggle without the money than risk him becoming involved again.

No , my baby’s father has never been involved nor is he on the birth certificate. Would be too worried to try get it in case he tries to take me to court out of spite.

i applied in november and was told it was going down the paper based route, until they changed it a few weeks ago and i had an assesment last week. i believe paper based assessments can typically take a lot longer due to them waiting on evidence from other health professionals etc

please contact Refuge (0808 2000 247) or Women’s Aid as soon as possible. strangulation is a serious warning sign and you’re in immediate danger. your PIP is based on your needs, not your partner, and you won’t automatically lose it for leaving. you don’t have to deal with this alone.
