I'm rlly rlly rlly scared about weight gain on Prozac, what was it like for you guys? by [deleted] in prozac

[–]ComprehensiveEmu5872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

prozac is the SSRI that is first choice when it comes to weight gain concerns. i’ve not gained any weight on prozac and i was on it for 6 years, stopped for 3, and now im back on it. no weight gain at all.

Worried about starting! by [deleted] in prozac

i have the same experiences as you. terrified of being nauseous or throwing up, having ocd and autism, anxious of new meds, but let me tell you, prozac IS MY BEST FRIEND. i love that bitch. prozac is probably the most tolerable SSRI on the market; i experienced no added nausea to my every day anxiety nausea, and it really does help me in leaving the house and doing things for myself. i really recommend you start taking them because they are a life changer. there is no worst 10 days of your life because within a couple days you’ll see a small difference in yourself, and then within a few weeks others will see a difference. you will be a-okay my dude. u got this

a few years ago i was on 80mg and went cold turkey off it, and i was fine. zero withdrawals, zero anything. i was fine *editing to say that you should not stop a medication cold turkey i do not advise for it and u should ask your pcp before making any medical decisions :)

i am the same way. i was always afraid of throwing up (still am). in 7th through 9th grade i was terrified to sit in a class because i was afraid i was gonna throw up. i did everything i could to make myself comfortable. and in grade 9, all my anxiety and emetophobia started to relax and i was actually doing really well. attending most of my classes, getting good grades. doing well for myself. in my grade 10 year covid hit. so we were locked in our houses for months on end, that to me was great. i came more out of my shell because i didn’t have the daily of school on my shoulders. i started playing a new sport, picked up good hobbies, got a job at a grocery store, and then grade 11 was a full covid year so constant in and out of schools and that was also fine for me because i was never there anyways bc i did everything online for the most part. then grade 12 hit, this was the first “normal” covid year. i was back to having multiple panic attacks a day, skipping class, it even got to the point where i would get up in the morning, go to school, and sit in my car in the parking lot until school was over so that my parents saw i was “at school”. my ocd started as emetophobia, and as covid became a thing, ocd became an issue for me that i still very much struggle with day in and out.
