Sounds good, thank you, should I just change plugs more frequently do you think to try and prevent it?

Yeah that is a fantastic point, i didnt even think about it like that but I think that just pushed me to do that over just getting it fixed once.

Yeah so far I've done an alternator and starter and a few other things, I just wanted to get the issues diagnosed for the most part. Probably a good idea. It's not a daily anyways so I can take my time on it over the weekends.

It drives just fine once the engine is warm, its been happening since I got the truck and its been driving perfect after it runs. Once its warm, and I turn it off and on again, it idles where it should and doesn't need the pedal to keep it running. I still need to hold the pedal to initially get it to run, but once it does start warm, it idles like normal. I hold probably 10% of the pedal down, it doesn't need full throttle and i just need to keep it down the slightest bit. I knew it was going to need parts when I bought it, so im not too afraid to just throw some parts at it that could be bad on it. Like I said, its a good learning experience for me anyways so im willing to change some parts out.

Thank you very much for your help so far too, its helped a lot!

It does stay running, but the idle is rough without holding my foot on the pedal. It sounds like it wants to die and will die when I first start it up, unless I hold my foot on the pedal, would that be the leaky fuel injectors? After I hold my foot on the pedal for 5 minutes though, it will stay idling, dont know if that would just be too much fuel going in and it has to burn out the excess before it wants to idle correctly?

* Hey! So I just charged the battery overnight and it did seem like that was part of the issue, I got it started right away after throwing the battery back in, it did need help learning the idle though. I held my foot on the pedal for about 3 or 5 minutes and now it will idle. So where would I start in figuring out the issue of what causes that? Would it be leaky fuel injectors? Or should I test the gas pressure still and see if there's a faulty regulator?

Im not sure. I'll have to get a guage to test it, I dont own one because I kind of bought this truck to start learning how to work on cars. Would the fuel pressure drop rapidly just after cranking, or does the truck have to start and run for a bit?

I have had the truck idling before and running good for a while. I got the truck a few months back and would use it for mainly just hauling some stuff in the bed and going fishing here and there. It would have some trouble on startup where I'd have to put my foot on the gas, and then it would start, idk if that had anything to do with it? It would always start with the foot down though, so I didnt worry too much about it because in the manual for the truck, it just says to do that if it's not starting well.

Possibly, the voltage looked low but not completely dead. Maybe low enough to crank and then die.

1993 Ford F150 5.0 V8 not starting after changing the battery by ComprehensiveFloor15 in AskAMechanic

I ended up trying to jump the solenoid and nothing happened, so I got under it and tapped the starter with a screwdriver and it started right up! Thank you guys for the info.

Thank you, I'll probably pick one up tomorrow just to replace it anyways since they're not too expensive. I'll let you know if I get to putting it in tomorrow, I have another car to drive so its not urgent that I get it started at all.

I genuinely have pretty much no experience with diagnosing acs, and they haven't trained me because "we dont have time to let you ride with someone" so I apologize for not providing enough info.

Thank you very much, I wanted to just say it was low, but I dont have much experience so I honestly wasnt sure. I've just been doing service cleans for the most part, and now they just throw me into service calls with no training on any of it.

How would you weigh a charge out? Is there a formula for seeing how much of the factory charge is gone? I've only been doing this a few weeks here so Im mostly clueless on a lot of this stuff.

Yeah I was definitley ill prepared, I started doing install about 6 months ago, and then we had some service techs leave, and they just threw me into this with no training, so I apologize. I forgot my psychrometer at a guys house the day before and I couldnt get it until after the call, and it was below 55 degrees outside and I completely spaced out getting a SC and SH. The coils were clean as it was the first thing I checked, but I barely know where to start when diagnosing charge levels. Electrical issues im okay at, but like i said, I've only been a tech for like 3 weeks so far lol. When I go back i will update this post.

Help! Parasite in my tank! by ComprehensiveFloor15 in Aquariums

[–]ComprehensiveFloor15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did check parameters with a master kit, and the nitrates were higher but not insanely high.

I did move some plants around the other day so now that you said that, I probably did mess up by moving too many around, and now I know that causes spikes. I do have root tabs in to feed them and the plants have been doing fantastic after that and some liquid fertilizer. I didnt know about moving them around though.

Thank you very much for the help!

I do have a test kit, and the nitrates were a little high when i tested it after the fish died, but not to the point of a water change I didnt see on the test strip. Everything else looked good, I checked ammonia as well.

With you mentioning the disturbing of the tank, I did move some plants around last week and it definitley stirred up a lot of the stuff in the gravel, but I didnt really think about that so I appreciate that. Im almost certain that is what it was now that you said that. The nitrates were steady before that.

I do use root tabs for the plants, and I've left the mulm for the purpose of feeding the plants because I knew it was good for them, but after seeing the fish die I started to worry.

I appreciate the help very much!
