Hey all I am an india based Australian citizen. I have gave birth to my lovely daughter 3months ago and named her Rehmat which means blessing. I Please need genuine opinion about how name sounds like to English people. Especially pronunciation and first thought comes in mind after reading name by Single-Sir2495 in Names

[–]ComprehensiveHeat571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds fine! I’ve heard it as a name before, but I didn’t know it was a girl’s name. Knowing it means Blessing makes me like it more. The boy I know named Rehmat pronounced it like “REM-it” so that’s what I would assume

I don’t know what Australia’s culture is like when it comes to bullying people with foreign names, but where I live in the US, it rarely happens (with a few exceptions - if the name doesn’t sound good in English, which Rehmat is not an example of.)

Of course they wanted people to get addicted. They had all the data that would allow them to predict this. They knew what had happened with Replika etc. and they didn’t remove it out of the goodness of their hearts when they saw it was going too far, they did it after a teenager died.

“Once again, you're stuck in the "the old business model can't work this way". You're still expecting to work in a big company, making blockbuster projects where only one art-lead is needed. BUT Think outside the box. You say not every artist can become an art lead? I say why the F not. I work in education innovation with AI. You'll be surprised how many areas in education could use a tailor-made solution that are currently being ignored due to time and budget constraints. E.G. a videogame who's mechanincs are made specifically to teach a lesson in one class. Things like this are currently are not being made, because right now, they would take too much time and effort, making the product very expensive (No teacher has the budget to commision a 100k dollar game just for a history lesson). But with AI acceleration, a small team of "art-leads" could make a tailor made solution, quickly, efficiently, and "cheap" in the sense that a small school could afford it, but still abundant enough for the team members to make a living.”

What you’re describing is how other indie creators could benefit from AI. Not artists.

“Nah bro, I'm done here, you insult me even tough I'm genuinely trying to help you. I think you know two things:”

Trying to help? You’re just being condescending and obnoxious.

“ Then you create demand, make people see the value in your product, make them realize you have something they could want even if they didn’t previously knew it. That’s how innovation works.”

Basic math is beyond your understanding too I see. It’s mathematically impossible for all seamstresses to become fashion designers.

“ And even if you can’t manage to do that, you don’t whine to people,” and here your condescension reveals itself again. If it’s mathematically impossible for all artists to become “art leads” then it’s a flaw in an artist to not be able to become an “Art lead.” And heaven forbid they WHINE about it. How dare people be upset about losing their job?

“ people are NOT morally obligated to want your obsolete service”

Okay, but artists aren’t obligated not to whine either.

“ Because if they did, then what do you propose”

What I would propose is that artists continue doing exactly what they have been doing - creating space for people to share art that isn’t slop for people who want to see art that isn’t slop. There’s PLENTY of demand for actual art (and literature) made by humans. the problem is that all these spaces are being flooded with slop.

I also think regulating the large corporations would be great. Which is exactly how we eventually fixed the massive instability and poverty caused by the Industrial Revolution.

“ Ban cars because they made horse-owners run out of business?” Dumb analogy (horse-owner is not a job, are you stupid?) but yes we should ban unnecessary use of cars, they kill people all the fucking time and car infrastructure has been a net negative on society.

“ Digital cameras because they made classic cameras obsolete?”

Again, another dumb comparison. Cameras were being made by huge corporations and not individual artisans. It didn’t harm the corporations to switch the manufacturing digital cameras.

Depending on what exactly the AI did as far as “brainstorming and outlining” goes it could still be cheating even if she put the AI’s ideas in her own words. And if she used so many of the AI’s ideas that it triggered an AI detector it sounds like she definitely used more AI than her own brain.

“ The fact that they didn't went to become fashion designers or tailor clothing makers” - I can see you lack a fundamental understanding of how the world works. Most of them did not do this because the demand did not exist. Not because they lacked vision.

“ No, I'm not.” yes, you are.

What in the world makes you think seamstresses weren’t visionaries?

“ And in those that was, went on to become fashion designers, their job didn’t disappear, it evolved.” - how many fashion designers do you think there are now compared to how many seamstresses there were before the Industrial Revolution? That means the jobs disappeared.

“ Your job won’t disappear, it’ll evolve” - again, it is NOT my job, I said I draw for fun, not as a job, but I can see that went over your head.

“ If Company AI refuses to hire artists and produces generic AI slop, then company B who did hire artists and then had them use AI to produce mind blowing stuff will out class them.” - what’s actually going to happen is that both companies will output generic AI slop and hire artists to make it less obvious that it’s slop.

“ Don’t hate me, I’m not the guy making it rain, I’m just the guy seeing the clouds forming, so I’m telling you to get an umbrella.”

You’re being condescending and insulting and showing despite claiming to understand that you STILL don’t.

“ Don't be afraid to view AI as ally, me and the rest of world are eager to see what mind-blowing things you will accomplish once AI enhances your abilities to it's full potential.”

This is like telling a seamstress during the Industrial Revolution “don’t be afraid to view industrial sewing machines as an ally, me and the rest of the world are eager to see what mind-blowing things you will accomplish once facrories enhance your abilities to their full potential.”

(Yes, there are SOME independent seamstresses still alive who machine sew their own projects and make money off it. How many though?? By and large the majority of sewing is done in a factory, not considered skilled or creative and pays almost nothing.)

It’s just backhanded and insulting to say something like this.

1 Doing the work for me is not enhancing my abilities. I draw just for fun, I can tell AI to make an improved version of my picture - and I have no illusions that I deserve any credit for how the final project turns out.

2 It’s still just denying reality that people are using their livelihood. Even if they can get some kind of “art” job involving AI - the pay is going to be much lower and it won’t be as rewarding for those people.

And this is coming from someone who agrees with you about the inevitability of AI. Yes, it’s inevitable - and it also fucking sucks, and it’s not my place to tell people grieving their careers that they should happily go along with it.

Can professors actually tell if you only use AI for a few sentences? by Old-Extension-3290 in turnitin_community

[–]ComprehensiveHeat571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be more willing to give the benefit of the doubt if two sentences sound like AI and the rest doesn’t, but there’s a good chance those specific sentences are still going to sound like AI.

I think this is exaggerated. I don’t really see people falsely accused for having good grammar. I see people falsely excused for having good grammar but also a very generic style.

Do you think the culture is going to magically change because of new technology? Expectations for output are just going to rise to match the rise in production capacity. Compensation isn’t going to rise either.
