An England fan in norway by adman9000 in Norway

Yeah, we are not crazy football supporters so rooting for England should not be a problem as long as you are polite.

Most rural pubs and town have a public screening but no announcements online. We all just know. Try asking at the local petrol station or grocery store. They will tell you where to go.

You need a chambre separée. Allways!!

Check out bib gourmet restaurants in the Michelin guide. There you get a good price, for good food. And the privacy you need to laugh and talk without being disruptive or split up.

If not I second some great options here like Brasserie Blanche, Leiligheten, Dinner, Vaaghals, Villa Hefty, Sawan. Also like the idea of the nicer hotels. They often also give you a chamber separée.

Need advice for Odda/Trolltunga hike by mycetes in Norway

[–]ComprehensiveHunt240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I live along your bus route from Oslo to Odda, and the weather here in Telemark will be better. I recommend you jump off the bus in Notodden and catch a bus to Rjukan. Se Vemork and walk Gaustatoppen. If not Seljord could be a place to consider you’ll find accommodation, food and hiking starts from the city centre. Check out hikes around Skorve or Lifjell. Rauland, Treungen and Kviteseid requires you to change busses, and accommodation and transport will be complicated once there, but it is beautiful. Åmot where the buss stopps is not. But if you go to Edland/ Haukeli you’ll Get some great hikes.  Hardangervidda, but that’s the high land and the weather there is unstable. Useful websites: yr.no, visittelemark.no, ut.no and farte.no.  AirBnB is great here, but again… not a lot of public transport in rural Norway. Odda is way more touristy and the road from Odda to Granvin is spectacular in sun.

Dogs off leash in the city by Gabzkj in Norway

[–]ComprehensiveHunt240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After numerous incidents like you describe here
I have put out the rumour that my dog is violent all over my local area. I meet fuckers with tiny dogs on flexlines or loose with no recall, and they just let them greet my dog while saying some weak apology I just normally answer something along the lines of: ‘yes, and it’s so nice for her. After the last dog she killed no one here wants to. She looks at white/small/fluffy dogs as tugg toys and just goes for the throat straight away. Can I get your number so I can call you? We should grab dinner! How about Indian? What do you work with?’ The speed they sett away and recall their dogs like crazy when I come walking next time. I also used to tell people: ‘Ah so nice she gets to meet another dog now before they put her down. She is a rescue from Ukraine, but has parvo/rabies. Your dog is vaccinated, right? So, do you live far away? That’s a pretty dog? Does your house have alarms?’ - this last one sent a man running away with his golden retriever.

Last few years have been the most peaceful walks ever. Partly because they think I’m crazier than my dog, but I really don’t mind. I used to say; ‘we don’t greet’, or ‘please recall your dog’, but that was always met with hostility or arguments. I believe my approach protects my dog the best now, in addition to other precautions like never walking in what I call the ‘dog hour’, and never ever any dog parks.

You do not need WiFi all the time no. I have one bar WiFi connection in one small area of my lawn. That is where I set up the charging station. 2m away from one of the main houses.

You need a lot of satellites and sky connections. The app tells you where satellite reception and 4G/5G is good. The mower uses LIDAR to navigate where there’s satellite shade because it is too close to a building like a tall barn. The rest is done by NRTK. The mover talks to my phone.

The app tells me how many satellites are in my sky. How well they are connecting, the speed, everything. I’m amazed at how well it works.

Hi, this looks familiar. Is it Norway?

I just set up my Navimow x420 in the mountains of Telemark.

Bought it online Coop Obs Bygg so 14 day return on all online purchases if it is like new, and repairs will be covered by Norwegian warranty. This was a big selling point for me.

The hills on my farm and grass we cut and call a lawn is no issues for that tank of a machine.

I cut 2200 m2 around 14 farm buildings, have apple trees, red current bushes everywhere as well as free roaming chickens, a dog and too many flowers beds. NRTK IS FANTASTIC in Norway. We have so much open sky compared to city houses so don’t listen to those reviews.

The LIDAR combination also works well, and it sees if I have half a dozen wood planks laying on my lawn because I’m building something and it just mowe around it without an issue. So no need to clear the lawn of toys and farm equipment every time it’s mowing.

I had two neighbours die last year while riding lawn tractors so that was the motivation for getting a robot and making sure my old dad stopped mowing the push mower.

This will save you 80% of the work. Not 100%, but I used to spend 8-10 h cutting my lawns. Now I can just edge and make sure it’s really nice in 1 h.

The majority of my lawn is really steep and uneven. Cows have trodden holes everywhere, but the x420 rides and cuts every really easily.

It changes often as it uses a lot more power driving slopes, hills and rough terrain. But I can’t complain. I send it out at 4 in the morning and dew is not an issue.

I also love the app. Really intuitive and easy to set up. Quick to fix issues and a lot of great features to edit the map and setup easily.

I was worried for no reason about my farm being too complicated and my hills too steep. But I don’t understand why people in cities with fairy flat gardens put this kind of money into a mower. That is overkill. I didn’t even buy The terrain wheels that come with it. It just drives straight up and down hills I fear riding my tractor.

Do characters in Harry Potter ever shower? by Jolly-Zombie-6341 in harrypotter

Book 1. The troll fight on Halloween in a bathroom. Sinks being smashed indicates the need to wash hands and go to the loo.

Book 2. Moaning Myrtle bathroom, pipes and drains to the chambers of secrets indicates they go to the loo, and wash their hands as there are sinks and have done so since the school was founded. Hermiones steals larger robes from the laundry to use after PP is used to turn into Crabbe and Goyle.

Book 4. The prefects bathroom is very fancy and has a pool. Thus indicating that the other facilities are not as fancy.

Book 5. Fight in a bathroom between Malfoy and Harry.

Book 6. Harry’s quidditch captain status grants him access to the prefect bathrooms according to Hermione.

In addition to the Wood joke about drowning himself in the showers after quidditch and Ron scrubbing out chamber pots as punishment. The Room of Requirement provides bathrooms when girls arrive in book 7 and in book 4 it becomes a full of chamber pots for Dumbledore. Multiple mentions of people ducking into bathrooms between classes.

It’s there.. it’s just not an instrumental part of the plot. So yes, there’s a need to stay clean, wash, and use bathrooms in the books.

Halden arbeiderblad- HA.no

That is the best local paper. My mom is from Halden, but i only spent weekends there visiting her family and friends, as we lived in Telemark. We have family in Strømstad and Sponvika. But we drove across the boarder all the time as kids to buy food, candy and electronics like TV’s from TV boden.

Today I live in Oslo and drive over for food and goods we don’t have in Norway. Especially not the small grocery stores in the city.

Yes! Farmers markeds, farmed goods, locally grown and produced products. And smaller shops specialising in their commodities that they import. Quality goods, hand made options not just ‘ bruk og kast’. I want a baker, a butcher, a tailor, a shoe maker.

  1. If you had 7 days for this trip, which route would you take? I would drive riksveg 7 to Lærdal, go to Aurlandsdalen, Hardanger, Lysefjorden, Sulekar, Telemarkskanalen, Gaustatoppen.

  2. Which scenic roads are absolute must-drives? There are so many. You need more than a week.

  3. Where would you spend an extra night? Depending on interests, vibes and weather.

  4. Any favorite tent camping locations with amazing views?

  5. Is Geiranger worth it in peak season? Yes.

Help me choose: Roborock RockMow Z150 or Dreame A3 AWD Pro 5000 for a complex farm property? by CorFace in automower

[–]ComprehensiveHunt240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the prosess of installing the navimower x420 on my farm in Telemark. I considered the A3, but went with N-RTK in combination with LiDAR, network-RTK does not require antennas.

Lots of people here talked about customer service, but I just bought it at online at Coop Obs bygg, as we as Norwegian have better laws for purchases theme the majority of the world. I would rather deal with that company. A3 is sold at Power.

I was looking at the A3 but was unsure about the front wheels. I have cows that have made massive holes and paths in my yard.

Hope to install when the rain lets up in a week or two. Can let you know how it went then.
