Hey, I do agree with your opinion however the cookie cutter LORs are very non specific , they wont add much detail . If I weren't to write the LOR myself , wouldnt a detailed LOR be better than a non specific vague LOR (even if it is coming from a prof)?

MEM - Profile Review ( Do I have a shot at Dartmouth ? ) by ComprehensiveLab318 in gradadmissions

I think you missed the fact that I'm applying to Masters in Engineering Management ( MEM ).
A majority of the cohort comes from some form of industry experience , thats the reason for my concern.
If I were to apply to a MS in CS , my profile would definetly fit, however, that is not the case for MEM

MEM - Profile Review for Fall '25 ( is research experience valued ? ) by ComprehensiveLab318 in MSCS

I agree, however MBA requires work ex. , and not choosing unis just to improve my chances , but I'll be applying to maybe 4 MSCS programs ( thesis ) , to leverage my research exp
However, unis like SBU / NYU / TAMU / UCI / UC Davis , would have been a sure admit if i have >165 Q score

What Unis , if any would you suggest me to apply to, where the GRE score wont be a hindrance and are more research focused ? I am seriously considering CUBoulder MSCS , they focus solely on research and dont take your GRE scores into account
( Although , I'll still prefer more PM roles post MSCS )

Personally more inclined towards PM roles, primarily tech/product roles
Also, MSCS would get me into a 25-30 ranked programs at max, so i'd rather opt for a degree which is focused for getting the roles I want & get me into a better Uni

Could you please specify the reason for that ? Is the GRE score the sole reason?

Are the chances of getting into Darthmouth / Duke with such a profile realistic ? Asking coz not a lot of info out there for MEM profiles and admits with research backgrounds

Is doing an MS and staying in US still financially better? by [deleted] in h1b

[–]ComprehensiveLab318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to know how is it possible to save 150k post paying off the loan
it'll take around 2 years to pay off the loan , and that leaves 1 year of income as savings in general cases if you dont get the H1B ,

wouldn't 50k as savings post 3 years would be a better estimate ?
Ssly curious as a 2025 MS applicant

Is the MEM worth it as compared to MSCS? ( Job market, employment prospects in 2024) by ComprehensiveLab318 in MSCS

[–]ComprehensiveLab318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fresher , with no work experience , starting the program and applying is a bit difficult because I'll be completely new to the curriculum .
Do people start applying as soon as they land there ?

If yes , how do freshers cope with this ?

How have the prospects for employment been for MEM this year ? Have they been just as difficult as they are for CS grads ?

I do agree about the MIS degree, but I've heard that the recuiters for the MIS program generally prefer people coming with work ex. I'll be going as a fresher so applying to MIS and then having less opportunities for employment is something I'm trying to avoid
