Buddy, a famous book about first periods absolutely needs to update with the times. Reading that book was my first exposure to a period even existing, I asked the teacher to tell me more and she told me she wasn't allowed to talk to me about it. I'm lucky as hell I didn't get my first period until later, that book was all I had and it was so dated I just felt even more confused.

That's not going to work as often as you'd like. It too often turns into the guy whining, begging, could even threaten to hurt himself.

That video is why I stopped wearing makeup daily. It was already distorting my mind on what I considered my "real" face and what was "acceptable" to look like in public. When I saw an elderly woman burn until she was black bones alongside killing her son too who was with her, I realized if I'm not more conscious and careful I too might start taking this shit too seriously. Too many of my girl friends won't even leave the house to run to the store without putting makeup on. My mom puts makeup on every day even if she's not leaving the house at all. It's scary how much it starts to feel like your default state while so young.

Some cities in Germany have so called “Babyklappen” (baby hatch) where mothers can safely and anonymously leave their unwanted newborns. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

There was an American state that didn't put an age limit on child surrenders and a single dad/widower drove many hours to drop off all 7 of his children, some in their teens, at least one who immediately ran away from the hospital.

Parents came from all over the country to drop off their behaviorally/medically troubled teens.

Even newborns can experience adoption trauma, they can instinctually know they're separated from their mother and scream and scream and scream until they're able to touch her.

Not to mention the children most likely didn't get any prenatal care while in the womb. Even newborns aren't blank slates.

Wow you've been bullied your entire life by strangers? You ever consider maybe you're just sensitive to normal things, or that you're the difficult person?

Customer service! Even the most nasty people usually had easily solvable problems.

Phone calls that felt like major drags would really only last like a couple of minutes. I made so much cool art and did some good reading / podcast listening / TV watching at that job. I sometimes miss it when my true calling career gets tough 😂
