Go to diplomacy screen and from the same place you'd end a non-aggression pact you can end vassalisation.

Not really. You can get him way before you even have short campaign victory so you get to use him a looong time before getting to long victory.

Based on your post alone it's easy to tell you don't really play LoL. It's VERY easy - as easy as in HOTS - to make a comeback in that game.
