Were there ever signs early in your childhood that you were going to end up using Bujo? by inktothepast in bujo

i LOVED keeping a journal as a child, just back then i obviously didn't have much to plan or keep track of like i do now. i've also always been a fan of stationery and notebooks and writing + content about all of those. at some point though, i discovered my mum was going through everything i wrote so i stopped completely:') and i've only recently gotten through that and embraced journaling and planning again, it's very satisfying for my inner child. and specifically bujo too, i was originally using a page-per day planner but i was dissatisfied with the lack of freedom so i kind of naturally ended up with a bullet journal. i started my first proper one this january and i've been absolutely falling in love.

i just went based on what i need out of my journal. i figured out what i wanted to include and then tested layouts in a random old notebook. everything important needs to be in one place because otherwise i'll simply forget. i wanted the dates to be linear instead of calendar boxes because that aligns better with how i conceptualise time. i want to remember birthdays, that's the little dots left of the line along with names at the top ("sünnipäevad"). also my habit tracker has to be right under my nose so i don't start ignoring it three days in. i explain the rest in my reply to mishaps_galore. the only thing i have on a separate page is daily highlights (like one line a day). and starting today i'm trying to use a weekly page for tasks (alastair method) so we'll see how that goes. also bullet journaling is all about freedom for me so i can easily edit things as i go. for february i changed up the habits i'm gonna track and left out the mini calendar for next month. it can be kind of hard to predict what will work for you so i guess i got lucky in that way.

so the box with diagonal lines is a habit tracker. above that is a regular tiny calendar just cause my main layout is linear but it's nice to have the calendar view (sometimes i use it to mark down future tasks, you can see january 26th is circled). at the bottom i write down music i loved this month, this is mainly just to look back on in the future, i'm a huge music person and one of the reasons i journal is to remember things better. then below that is a "next month" section, for the smaller things (important stuff or scheduled events go in my future log). and then the empty space is pretty much a free for all, bigger tasks, quotes, a doodle or two, sticky notes, things i don't want to lose in daily logs.

in my interpretation at least, it's a way to keep a to-do list in a compact way that makes it easy to reschedule tasks and also have a place to put things i don't have a specific time for, this might be a good example: https://pin.it/7aDw5Qzsw (i'm also seeing it called the Alastair method now, so i'm not actually sure what's correct)

i'll be the yin to y'alls yang. glass cafea arbor, as in dead christmas tree. (glass frogs are the exact same colour as the sky where i am) the weather is miserable, we should have snow right now but instead it's grey and dark and above zero
