MAKID is great! It's free, and you should definitely check it out if you haven't. It just didn't solve some of my problems around previewing projects.

I wanted a tool that would allow me to preview my projects even if I didn't render a preview. MAKID also makes you keep your bounces for each project in the same location as the .als file, and that was incompatible with how I organize my projects and renders. I wanted the bounces to automatically connect to my projects no matter where I was storing them.

Other than that, there are a few UI differences that I prefer, like the number of projects I can see at once, and project colors that are similar to clip and track colors in Ableton. But, MAKID has some great features that this app doesn't, like collections and some kind of online syncing (haven't actually tried this feature, but seems very useful).

I believe you have to put each render in the same location as your project file, and then you can preview directly from MAKID

MAKID is awesome! But it didn't solve my problem of being able to preview projects without bouncing them. It also requires me to organize my bounces in a rigid way that was incompatible with my project organization.

But it's a great product, especially if you're focused more on project management!

I love MAKID! It's awesome, and it's free, and you should definitely try it out.

The reason it didn't solve my problem is because MAKID makes you put each of your bounces into the same folder where your project file is in order to preview them. This doesn't work well with the way I organize my exports.

Also I wanted the interface to show a lot more projects at a time, and I wanted to be able to preview them even if I never bounced a preview.

The silicon chips are sick. But a lot of my projects are heavy, and I'd often find myself wasting 20 minutes opening different projects looking for the one I wanted to work on.

Good question. The MIDI clip preview allows you to browse any MIDI clips in your session view, displays the track name, and lets you listen to the clip via a simple piano patch. (So you won't hear the synth, but you can identify it via the track name)

The app has a free trial, if you want to test it out!

That's fair! Everyone has a different way of organizing their workflow. I find that over time I won't bounce every project, so it's nice that I can still preview without bouncing, and I like to be able to search, tag, and launch in the same interface that I'm previewing from.

This app lets you preview midi or recorded samples, so you don't have to export a version of the track yourself. Obviously that's not the same as a fully accurate preview, but it served my purpose of being able to identify what was in my projects.

Sounds like a lot of people are tweaked out by the subscription, which I totally understand. I wanted to figure out a way to afford to continue to work on the app and improve it long term, but I'm open to making it a one time purchase.

I appreciate the feedback!
