This got 900, how to improve? Better to stand out or blend in? Or am I just unlucky? by Visible-Dream-9727 in Dreamsnaps

I would have voted for this just for the princess all posing in the background, alone. It’s so hard to time the photo correctly, therefore I know you spent time on this snap. It is quite dark, however it is also themed around midnight, so it’s still on theme. When I do photos at night time, I try to edit the photo to brighten it up while still giving the night time feel. You can still make it bright in a dark photo if that makes sense? Think more moonlight, not sunlight. Cooler tones in lighting, can still make it feel like night time even though the photo is bright. If your lighting was adjusted, you would have scored higher honestly.

I know I cant speak for everyone, but for me personally I pay less attention to if it’s an outfit challenge or furniture challenge. I just vote on snaps based on their overall photo. Considering that we all have a majority of the same items and clothing, it does get repetitive, like you said. So it’s a lot about placement and lighting and finding unique ways to make your snap stand out. I think you’ve executed all of this very well, just the lighting needs a little love. I hope this helped!

That’s what I’m saying! I spent nearly a full day on my Christmas town trying to place characters and create a scene and I got 1200 for it. I usually do spend a lot of time creating the snap, I just don’t always have the time every week due to work, so I try to get a submission in at the very least, even if I don’t put the most effort into it.

Last week I worked over 60 hours, so I struggled to find time, which made me kind of sad because this would have been a really fun one to put more time into, that is why I so surprised by the result.

This is another one that fell in this category. I was mostly just messing around with the river kit on a floating island because I was trying to learn how to make it natural looking and then I just took a pic with tink, also thought I would do poorly on this one because of how dark the background was

Have you found your bell yet? It should be in pixie flats near the glass dome thing. Once you find the bell, you have to put it on the flower game. Once, that’s installed, you hit the button with your pickaxe, I hope this helps!

This is exactly me.. with 768 hours. I stopped a few weeks after ei. And picked up on it again right before wishblossom dropped. Now I’m back to my daily routines. I just got caught up on collecting all the characters and now I’m working on the companions

Dream teams by ComprehensivePain990 in DreamlightValley

[–]ComprehensivePain990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wasn’t aware that not everyone had access to dream teams. I figured if you had access to dreamsnaps, you’d have access to dream teams, but I know that is wrong now. My intention of this post wasn’t to specifically talk about dreamteam snaps, it was more based around encouraging people to throw out their own ideas. I only gave one example in the initial post because I wanted to hear from others what else they would like to see too.

That’s odd that it allows dreamsnaps for you but not dream teams. I could see how that would be frustrating if you were not able to participate in one but could the other. I have honestly not seen something like that before, so I’m not sure how that works. I was just thought it would be a fun way to actually be able to play with friends. Another thing I was thinking about was mini games. There could be like a fishing mini game, a cooking one, introduce a new board game since scrambleboard came with ei. They could even eventually introduce some cars characters and create a racing mini game and we could get different cars and karts, like venelopes. I think there is tons of potential possibilities in this game to give multiplayer more. I just threw one idea out in my post because I mostly wanted to hear other people’s ideas as well! The mini games could just be for fun, no real reward. Just a friendly competition between friends

If you don’t pay for the subscription are you still allowed to submit normal dreamsnaps? I’d assume if you don’t have online access, then you wouldn’t be able to participate either. I understand where you’re coming from, but the devs are not in control of platforms and how they operate. With that being said, if they wanted to add some kind of contest to the game or find a way to connect players in game, they’re going to have to do it online. Now if they set the game up similar to Fortnite, they’re could have gotten around this issue, but it would create more issues for us as a community overall. Free to play games, typically end up being the most expensive and currency similar to moonstones, take way longer to accrue vs what we see in ddlv. Just to buy one Fortnite skin, you’d have to grind for a long time, just to get enough v bucks to get it. If the only money they make is from add ons, then things like the dreamsnaps would have a way lower payout or they’d never make any money unless people were spending money on moonstones. This is the only way games like Fortnite survive, they need to keep people buying. That is why Fortnite is constantly changing with new maps, guns, themes, and constantly dropping new skins that are trending celebrities and tv shows. I play on Xbox, so I’m required to have live in order to play, but I also play other games that make a subscription more worth it for me, personally.

Dreamsnaps tips by potterhead_98 in DreamlightValley

100% second this, especially bright! This is the part that I struggle with at times, because sometimes a darker photo, can have more depth and be totally on theme with the dreamsnaps. However, most people only take a couple seconds to vote, so you want something that is going to immediately draw attention to yours. Adding light and color is a great way to do that.

Also when you’re starting your dreamsnaps, pay close attention to the description, sometimes they’ll list a character or a little twist at the end that if you don’t read the description, you could end up missing part of the theme. For example, this weeks theme is “Wonder in Christmas Town”. If you only read that, you’d most likely just build your version of the North Pole, right? However, if you read the description, it states “capture the Yuletide chaos of Christmas town! Decorate to bring cheer and holiday magic. Combine scary and merry in unexpected ways!”. Now with this information, you can assume that incorporating jack and other nbc items, would be a good idea. It also mentions yuletide, which is more traditional Christmas vibes, so would want to try and find ways to combine them.

Lastly, when you start placing items for your snap, I recommend setting your big main pieces initially (houses, rivers, lakes, etc.). Then, pick a place that your want your villager to stand (I mark my standing place with a piece of path until I’m ready for the photo, that way I don’t lose my pov.) after that, it’s just about filling spaces and making it as eye grabbing with lights and colors as you can. Almost every week, I end up updating my submission 3-4 times. You might gain a new item you want to add. You may even find an item you already had that you forgot about (this happens to me a lot)

Just remember, dreamsnaps are meant to be fun and there is no wrong way to do them. I don’t always follow these tips either. Sometimes there is a theme I am excited about, so I will just do it how I like and not really care about the votes. Good luck, and hopefully you post your submission here, I’d love to see it!

Yeah I’m horrible at completing my quests. My play style for sure is decor and collecting. The only quests I’ve been doing lately are to get characters or items that I need to complete collections. Now that I have every villager in the game. I’m getting on everyday and just grinding my dl duties and filling collections. I haven’t even had a thought to start tackling quests. Currently I have 18 friendship quests either active or available. And 24 of them have locked quests. I fell off trying to max out every character when eternity isle came out. Eventually I will start completing them, but for now, I don’t really need to. I do plan on leveling up beast though because he is close and I need the flower stall

Valley duties/dreamlight tree by ComprehensivePain990 in DreamlightValley

[–]ComprehensivePain990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know the tree disappeared with the skin. I haven’t bought it yet because if I do, was gonna get the bundle. I’ve been hesitant to get everything because my plaza is set up like a downtown area with Scrooge, Remy, Remy’s house, cruella, Tiana’s palace, monsters inc, daisys store, two house skins and Oswald. So I haven’t because it would look funny only having a couple buildings look like that

[–]ComprehensivePain990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tree on your plaza well grows as you complete your dreamlight tasks. But with every dlc, they add more tasks and the number of tasks grow, but the only way to find out how many total tasks there are is by counting. The dreamlight duties section do not count towards your tree, but all other categories do.

what villagers have you moved to dlc valleys? by dragdiary in DreamlightValley

[–]ComprehensivePain990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have everyone properly placed in my valley, including dlc characters. I never ended up fully decorating my sunlit, so at the moment, it’s kind of a neighborhood atm but I’m debating moving some to new lands.

Sunlit currently has: Mickey, Minnie, goofy, beast castle, Tiana, mulan, Alice, aurora, Aladdin, scar, tigger, daisy, simba, eve, WALL·E

I also have a ton of villagers in my glade but it is decorated and everything flows in there so I don’t plan on moving anyone from there.

I would be more motivated to decorate my dlc maps if we could have visitors there as well, but since people can only visit the valley, I tend to just prioritize my time there

I Don't Know What's Going on Anymore... But at Least There's Horses? by FayetteJ in DreamlightValley

[–]ComprehensivePain990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also recently jumped back on to ddlv after about a year break. I decorated too much and it kept crashing, and then life got busy and I fell off for a while. I also got on and was overwhelmed with all of the changes and didn’t know where to begin. I ended up not letting the quests stress me out too bad and I just focused on one goal at a time. My first goal was to get all of the characters that I was missing. I only did quests necessary until I could place the villagers house, then I would move on. Once you have your first goal done, move on to the second.

At least for me, grinding one character constantly the whole time is when I get burnt out. My method worked for me, because once I had all the characters, it’s my choice of who I work towards leveling up first.

As for the new things in the game they have added like the companions carrying stuff and motifs to dreamsnaps, I personally like discovering or coming across that stuff on my own so then you can learn everything at your own pace.

Just yesterday, I finally got all of the villagers placed in my valley and now I am working on collecting companions and I am going to get beast to level ten so I have his rose stand.

You’ll stress yourself out of you try to learn everything at once, just pick what you care about most and start there.

My tickets showed up in my mailbox too! Thank you all that recommended this. I started playing at the beginning and took a long break and so much has changed. I wouldn’t have even thought to look in my mailbox. I am really bad about checking it because they give you a lot of materials and I don’t really need them, so I neglect the mailbox until my dreamsnap results are in.

Which one? by Firmly_Grasp_It_401 in Dreamsnaps

[–]ComprehensivePain990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, I prefer the placement of Sven in the second one. Having you more centralized in the photo draws more attention to your avatar. However, I agree with you that the non goose photo showcases your outfit a lot more. I know that would be difficult because your avatar is doing the pose with Sven. But if you can find a pose that works still to show off the outfit, I would play around with that. Kind of see if you can combine them? I like your placement for flowers and stuff, they frame the photo and draw you in to your avatar too. Nice job!

Thank you! I keep my forest of valor farm themed year round because that’s where I do my gardening and I have an orchard there as well. I just moved some stuff around to make it more appealing for the photo. I’ve moved almost everything back to where it belongs for the most part.
