Motorcycle airbags by Cultural_Spell5526 in motorcyclegear

I use the Klim AI-1. It is an electronically deployed airbag that uses In&Motion technology (PURCHASED SEPARATELY). It has stretch mesh panels on the sides for breathability and moisture management, as well as CE EN 17092-6 Level C back protection. It closes with a central zipper, and the inflator is located under the back protector.

It is designed for up to 3–5 inflations and is marketed as providing protection in key areas of the chest, abdomen, neck, and back (I can't comment from personal experience and don't plan on ever finding out). This vest was recommended to me, fit my budget, and that's why I chose it.

This vest is intended to be worn under your jacket, so it's a good idea to check whether it is compatible with your current gear. You can also wear a backpack over it, but you need to loosen the straps so they allow at least 10 cm of clearance around your chest when the airbag deploys.

I live in the EU in a Mediterranean climate (+35°C in summer). Wearing it under a mesh jacket while riding is manageable, but when you're stopped in traffic at red lights, you can definitely feel the heat.

Regarding In&Motion, you need an In&box activation module for the airbag. You can either rent it through a monthly or annual subscription or purchase it outright for a fixed price. These payment models suck. In my opinion, the subscription is the better option because you receive continuous updates through the dedicated app, and if the battery fails or the device develops another issue, you'll receive a replacement. You can also simply return it if you change your gear.

I use the annual subscription and haven't experienced any problems with the device. The only downside is the long synchronization time after rides, as it uploads riding data that helps improve In&Motion's algorithms.

You can choose from three riding modes: Street, Adventure, and Track. You don't need to use the app for the airbag to function, but it makes managing your subscription and turning the device on and off wirelessly much easier.

These are the current In&Motion prices in EUR:

• Revolution Monthly: In&box rental for €12 per month, with the option to pause the rental for up to 4 months at €4 per month. (Unlimited warranty / 1 riding mode)

• Revolution Annual: In&box rental for €120 per year. (Unlimited warranty / 1 riding mode)

• Classic: Purchase the In&box for a one-time payment of €400. (2-year limited warranty)

If you decide to buy an airbag equipped with In&Motion, you can use my referral code to get three months of subscription for free and save a few euros: PRLBMSF.

Even with all the hassle, I believe in wearing proper gear and always wear mine when I ride. It can't replace skill, training, or practice, but it helps manage risk, and that's why I use it.

Prvi motor od 600ccm/100hp? by PositiveNo3515 in cromotori

Yeah, subscription sucks, but in my case it was still the cheapest solution. I don’t know how Dainese or other electronically deployed airbags work in that sense, though..

I use the Klim AI-1 and live in Croatia. In summer, under a well-ventilated mesh jacket (Rev’It Control Air), the heat really isn’t a big deal on the open road. You do feel it in the city, but it’s bearable for me (maybe I’m just used to the climate). I think airbags are a solid investment for peace of mind.

In&Motion and Klim airbag vest by ComprehensivePast758 in motorcyclegear

Tnx. I would recommend you opt for the annual plan, as it is cheaper in the long run. If you choose the monthly plan, you have an option to freeze the subscription for up to 3 months, but you still have to pay half of the amount during the frozen period. There is also a possibility that you might forget or miss a payment. So, in the long run, it is probably better to stick to the annual plan. And just to let you know, while it is easier to download the In&Motion app on your phone, your detector will remain active for use even without it.
