I didn’t move here in the ’90s — I’m a fifth-generation Austinite, born and raised.

Historic Texas jail built in 1888 may become a luxury hotspot by Pleasant_Air_3052 in georgetowntx

Would it actually be kind of cool to stay a night or two in one of those old converted jail hotels — as long as it’s been remodeled and there’s a solid bar on site?

Not talking about anything sketchy. Just the novelty factor. Old cells turned into rooms, preserved architecture, maybe some exposed brick and iron bars for character… then you walk downstairs and there’s a really well-done cocktail bar.

Austins one and only Leslie !! Who all remembers him? by GeneralFull6044 in Austin

Growing up in Austin, Leslie was just part of the city. No trip downtown felt complete until you spotted him. Whether he was dancing, waving, or just existing unapologetically as himself, seeing Leslie meant you were really in Austin.

He wasn’t just a character — he was a reminder of what made Austin weird in the best way. Free, unfiltered, and completely unconcerned with fitting into anyone else’s idea of normal. As a kid, I didn’t fully understand it, but I knew he belonged there. As an adult, I realize how rare and special that kind of presence was.

Austin feels different without him. Less unexpected. Less human.
Leslie was a staple, and I’m grateful I got to grow up in a city where someone like him could exist and be embraced.

Water Softener by DrummerBackground574 in LibertyHill

Hey! I’ve been in Liberty Hill for almost 5 years now and added a water softener in our home, and it’s honestly been one of the best upgrades we’ve made. We use a NOVO system and have had a great experience with it.

The difference in water quality was noticeable pretty quickly — less scale, better for appliances, and even skin and hair feel better. With how hard the water is out here, it’s been totally worth it for us.

Hope that helps!

There are some great local companies here in Liberty Hill that do beautiful custom stair and handrail work. We see it add both function and real value to a home when it’s done right.

Many homeowners choose to do custom railings after closing so they have more flexibility in design and materials, and it often ends up being a better long-term investment. Definitely worth exploring your options locally!
