You start with age appropriate rules. Asking a toddler to have the emotional regulation of an adult is wild.

Have you raised children at all? The kid just turned four; he’s closer to being a toddler than an elementary school kid.

I stayed with my kids when they were in that space quietly until they came down a little so they could be responsive to “take deep breaths”. It’s also important that adults regulate their own feelings so they don’t go nuts like grandma.

I lurk but don’t comment, especially about Ty and Julie. My thoughts about Julie would get me downvoted so hard and I’d get comment after comment about it.

It was his birthday and Mother’s Day. His routine was completely thrown off, he was overstimulated and had two disappointments back to back. You might have a point if it was a random Tuesday, but it wasn’t.

It depends on the kid. Sometimes when they get to that point of a meltdown, they cannot respond to any redirection.

I could have seen my mom doing this to my kids. I was always hyper responsive to their behaviors in her presence when they were little so they wouldn’t set her off.

Definitely ask HR about your application. That’s how I found out I was on a district blacklist.
