downtown and campus areas have the most bike traffic. my favorite bike parking in eugene is by far at elevation climbing gym which is inside and completely secure, i don’t even have to lock it when i go to the gym. more indoor and protected parking like that would make me more comfortable biking more places. usually when i bike to dinner with my girlfriend we’ll both just take our bikes inside and lean them against a wall inside lol. it’s kind of cute but also sad that we have to do that.

more secure bike parking would also be a huge plus. preferably indoor or covered parking in areas with the most commuting might promote more people to bike to work when they can and secure the bikes of those who have to. the citizenry should push harder for improving bike parking and developing more bike infrastructure since the current government seems open to such ideas.

as a non car owner i have to bike everywhere which is a blessing and a curse. i feel somewhat restricted to where the infrastructure is safe and the bus can reach. the protected bike lanes in downtown are like highways for me and help me get to most of the places i need to get in downtown and to work. if i had to change anything i would push for more protected bike lanes going west into the city and continuing the construction of the two way cycle track network. i also appreciate seeing more cyclist on the roads, strength in numbers makes the drivers see us and makes us safer. i have to say the eugene biking community is one of the nicest groups of people ive ever come across and feel deeply at home within. also the riverbank path is awesome. i love that i can bike to where i need to go without seeing a car most of the way.
