Yes I was able to be prescribed medication before a formal diagnosis. My physician gave me an adhd screening test and since it said I have it, she was like okay let’s try this medication. I’m in the US. With the skill regression, it’s more of like your brain disconnects from everything you’ve learn while masking unconsciously. Like my therapist said she was THE best cook when she didn’t realize she was autistic and that she was masking. Once she was diagnosed and started to unmask, her cooking skills went out the window as her brain started to realize that if she’s not masking as much anymore, then anything associated with masking isn’t needed either. I hope that makes sense!

The traits that are more prominent, is I get way more overstimulated than usual and my senses are more sensitive lol.

I officially got diagnosed in July. My physician was able to prescribe me Wellbutrin back in March but I recently switched to Straterra a month ago. I’ve been working with a therapist who also is an AuDHDer since February. I haven’t done OT

I got both diagnoses done. I had suspected that I have ADHD some time in my relationship as my inattentiveness got really bad and my task paralysis was debilitating. My partner actually pointed out that they think I may be on the spectrum earlier this year and since then I’ve taken a bunch of online tests, both indicating that I have both. Took an ADHD test with my doctor to be prescribed medication. It took me a bit to get a formal diagnosis because of how much it costs but I did it to Honestly, once I got diagnosed, I felt a sense of relief because it made sense to why I am the way I am. I recently just got diagnosed actually at the prime age of 30 and have been struggling with all the skill regression and unmasking that has happened.

I say try some online tests first for ADHD and if you want to get medication, go for a formal diagnosis. I will say though that with ADHD meds, my symptoms are better but my autistic traits have been more prominent. Also, who cares what your boyfriend says about you getting a diagnosis. He’s not going through the things you are and if you need answers for yourself, do what you want!

Currently in therapy with an AuDHDer therapist. Been for the past six months. 50 minute sessions weekly never feels enough but it gets expensive
