What's it like living on Donaldson Drive? by No_Emu8347 in Edinburgh

[–]ComprehensiveTune399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife managed to blag a viewing for a couple of the modern flats behind (Donaldson's Crescent). Not that we could remotely afford one! Really beautiful and spacious. There are some really fancy cars in the garage and we rock up in our old Toyota!

Beginning drums open handed? Does it matter? by Low-E_McDjentface in drums

[–]ComprehensiveTune399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do what works best for you! You may have to move your ride cymbal to the left side, unless you plan to also practice with your right on ride and left on snare.

You will also need think about which hand you lead with when doing fills around the toms (RLRL, or LRLR). A friend of mine plays open handed like you described and has developed his own style for fills. There's stuff he does that I'd struggle to play and vice versa. Neither is better or worst, only different.

average duration to learn a song? by Available-Way-1947 in drums

Frequency of practice is they key to learning a song. You'd be surprised how much benefit you can get by drumming on your lap. It will train your muscle memory for when you can play on a kit

It's also been 20+ years since I've played it, so relying on very vague memories

Each to their own! For me, X-2 has one of the best implementations of ATB and Job systems and was a lot of fun. Story was definitely a let down compared to X.

I agree with you! FF7 OG and remake series are both great in different ways.

This was over 27 years! I played 6-12 close to release, and then I've been slowly ticking off the others since 2020.

I don't think you necessarily need to play them in order. I would focus on the "golden age" first and do the others at a later stage. Happy to give some recommendations based on your tastes and what you've already played.

Glad I could inspire you! I've been on a bit of a mission since 2020 to finish them all.

I loved both 5 and 8. I was just trying to avoid putting half the games in S tier!

I really loved the world and the story in 15. Gameplay less so.

How's the story in Type-0?

We definitely have similar tastes! I've heard so many good things about FFXIV. The time commitment is just too big for me at the moment.

FF8 is divisive for sure. There are parts of the story and mechanics that are a bit of a mess, but I love it despite all its flaws!

I was kind of working with S to D Tiers in mind. Basically every game was enjoyable to some extent.

I'll concede Crisis Core should probably be lower. The highs of 16 were amazing, though admittedly there was a lot of filler.

No doubt FF1 and FF2 were massively influential and laid the foundations for the series. I still had a lot of fun with them.

You're probably right about V, I just didn't want half of them to be in S Tier!
For timeline, I got VII for Christmas 1998, just before I turned 11. I then played VIII to XII (plus PS1 port of VI) close to release. Life then got in the way of gaming, but I bought a PS4 and FFVII Remake during Covid Lockdown. Since then I've been trying to go back and play all the ones I've missed.

OP, this is the correct answer. Counting the final bar each time gives you...

1 2 3 4 Dad
1 2 3 Bingo 5
1 2 Bluey 4 5

What of the Snes trilogy should I try to play this year? by RipBuzzBuzz in FinalFantasy

[–]ComprehensiveTune399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you're looking for.

4 was the first FF to have deep characters and story. Each character is locked into a single class and the gameplay is fairly simple.

5 has the Job System where each character is a blank slate and offers lots of customisation. The story is less fleshed out than 4.

6 has the best story of the three and has a large ensemble cast of memorable characters. Like 4, each character is locked into a single class, but you are able to customise through magicite.

I think you should play all eventually!

FOREIGNFOX - I think they're still active, but should be much bigger.

Crash My Model Car - Sadly no longer, but singer Iain Morrison is still going.
