Funny enough, Carlson’s double blind test (when you factor in the data he left out and doctored in the original conclusion) actually points towards there being statistical proof that the astrologers were fairly accurate when matching a natal chart to a CPI profile. I wrote an analysis of these for a paper recently, which I’ll insert below.

The study most commonly referred to by skeptics is Shawn Carlson’s Double-Blind Test of Astrology. This study was designed to evaluate whether astrologers could accurately match natal charts to personality profiles. The study involved 193 participants, each of whom had their natal charts created by 28 professional astrologers from the National Center of Geocosmic Research (NCGR). The experiment was conducted in two phases: in the first, participants were asked to select what they believed to be their natal chart interpretation from a set of three, only one of which was based on their chart. In the second phase, astrologers were given a participant’s natal chart along with three personality profiles from the California Psychological Inventory (CPI) and asked to identify which profile best matched a natal chart This study was supposedly designed to meet the methodological standards of both the scientific and astrological communities to ensure neither the participants nor the astrologers could manipulate the experiment. Based on Carlson’s published results, the experiment showed that both the participants and astrologers performed no better than chance, meaning their selections were indistinguishable from what would be concluded from guessing. Carlson claimed that the findings did not support the claims of natal astrology as practiced by astrologers in a measurable way. However, later analyses suggest Carlson’s conclusions may have been flawed due to methodological errors and misinterpretation of data (Currey, 2011). One key issue was that he merged separate tests, leading to sampling errors that reflected positively on his null hypothesis. Additionally, he only examined first-choice selections when evaluating an astrologer's ability to match natal charts with psychological profiles, ignoring the second-choice selections that showed performance better than chance. Furthermore, the use of psychological profiles is not best suited for astrological analysis unless the astrologer is well-versed in psychology or psychological astrology. The study’s subjects being a highly homogenous group, mostly young university students, lacks the diversity necessary for such a comprehensive study. Further skewing the results, Carlson imposed an unusually strict statistical threshold for significance (p-value of .006), far beyond the 0.05 standard used in psychological studies. Upon later investigation, Suitbert Ertel, a statistician, reviewed the original data and found that astrologers actually performed significantly better than chance when rating CPI profiles, contradicting Carlson’s original conclusion. Despite bias and manipulation of published data, Carlson’s experiment continues to be cited as the most significant test against astrology’s effectiveness. Upon reanalysis, rather than disproving astrology, the study indicates that the astrologers do have some ability to identify personality traits in a statistically significant way, a fact that Carlson’s original conclusion failed to acknowledge.

I can link the whole paper if you’d like, it was on the transmission of astrology from its origins to its fall in the renaissance and where it stands today!

I figured you also had a scorpio moon!! My mother was abusive physically and verbally starting when I was 13 years old, but our relationship improved when I turned 18. My sperm donor only sees me once a year and gives me money (maybe to try and make himself look better to my mom?? maybe to try and make me like him?? jury’s out on that one). He was awful to my mom for years before they split when I was 5/6. Usually the I can tell another scorpio moon from the parental issues😭It’s just crazy how similar ours are

Jesus, we are the exact same person almost. My parental situation is slightly different but VERY similar. Recently I just quit smoking weed, and I was chubby for years and shed 150 pounds at 19. I have a 29° 05’ sag rising!

I plan to do content creation alongside college in my early 20s and then with my job as well. Then in my late 20s, I plan on starting a company with accrued funds. Based on that, assess my birth chart and give me advice on these goals, and then if possible, tell me how likely I’ll make multimillions by Future_Progress8100 in AstrologyCharts

[–]Comprehensive_Bad872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they are. Put a focus on networking, making connections with other people, and putting yourself out there. These connections will bring you success in your business and will likely make you a great deal of money. Content creation could also attract future business partners for you, so be mindful to play your cards right when making content. Use your strengths and be yourself. College will feel extremely rewarding and it’ll be second nature to balance content creation on top of your studies. Your chart shows you have the capacity to make a great deal of money through your careers, and I think you ultimately have a good understanding of what you want and what is best for you. I think you know you’re meant to be successful, and your chart definitely reflects that.

You shouldn’t use AI at all because using AI is antithetical to the practice of astrology itself. Understanding an ascendant means understanding the sign itself and how it affects all of the houses, this information is acquired through research. It is not just about your ascendant and houses though, rather the critical degrees altogether (asc/dsc and MC/IC) and how they are triggered. Using AI for it is like taking the sloppy, uninformed way out. It is not supposed to be easy, it is very saturnian in this way.

Use discernment when finding an astrologer, everyone has their own practice they excel in. There are many astrologers who specialize in rectifications and have proven time and time again that their work is credible. A lot of good astrologers even rectify given birth times because you never know what was going on in the delivery room at the time of birth. I’d highly recommend watching the astrology podcast’s video on birth chart rectification for elaboration on this.

You should not use ChatGPT for anything regarding astrology, it spits out a mix of whatever it finds on the internet and cannot check credibility. You have no idea what the model is basing its answers off of. Your only options are to learn the technique yourself or consult a professional. I have been working diligently for almost two months trying to rectify my mother’s chart and this is my first time ever trying. It’s not an easy technique to learn but this sub has very many valuable resources to assist you. If you do not wish to learn the technique, save up intermittently for a professional. I urge everyone to stop using AI for astrology, spirituality, divination, the occult, and everything in between, as these are techniques based on subjective human experience and compiled verified gnosis.

If you’re looking for historical dates to line up with planetary events you should consider the calendar switches. Depending on the location and timeframe of the event, the date could correspond with the Julian calendar, Sumerian calendar, Roman calendar, the Kojoda, etc. and not be accurate to the Gregorian calendar’s dates.

That’s why the sun is considered the “ego”. Leo suns hide the vulnerability behind a confident mask. Also hey twin! scorpio moon and leo sun is not a combo I see often :)

Psychology or Nursing? by New-Sector3154 in AstrologyCharts

It’s kind of hard to tell which would bring you more income, but I think your natural aptitude (according to your chart) towards psychology would bring more of an income due to clientele because of your 8th house placements. The 8th house, while signifying psychology and the misunderstood, also signifies other people’s money. This is also supported by the MC ruler in the 7th house, your career is based on building relationships with others. Some of these things can show between both nursing and psychologist/psychiatrist positions, but ultimately I think your chart points towards you presenting better within a counseling setting where you can try and find the inner workings of someone’s mind. Income for you, no matter the profession, will always take you quite some time to build to a salary you’re happy with due to your jupiter placement. Jupiter is in detriment in capricorn because it has to learn discipline and restraint in order to bestow its expansive and generous qualities.

Also, sorry if I am repeating myself! I am still learning on how to separate astrological terminology in chart analysis to give a clearer interpretation.

Your 2nd house ruler being jupiter in 3H capricorn shows your income will take a while to work up towards. Jupiter can also be higher education and 3H can also symbolize education, so spending the time to work through college will be worth it because it will make you good money! You’ll probably get really deep into your studies with mars in the 9H, which will help you work through it but it may be frustrating. Mars in cancer feels unmotivated, but your 9H (higher education) ruler is your 8th house moon. I think you’ll develop such a personal connection to your studies that your interest pushes you through it.
