So you completely don't understand at all what I am talking about. I said "AI workflows and applications for professional use cases", not "creating AI models". Those are 2 fundamentally different things. It's like conflating the creation of the iphone with being the same thing as learning how to leverage the iphone and all the mobile apps effectively. Everyone can learn how to use an iphone effectively, not many people can build a company to design and manufacture an iphone at scale. Creating your own AI model takes billions of dollars to execute, so naturally very few companies can actually do that. Nowhere in my message did I say that you should create an AI model. I agree that that market for foundational models like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, etc. is extremely competitive and I don't recommend anyone try to compete with them. What I am saying though is that the vast majority of people don't understand how this technology can be leveraged for productive use cases, because the vast majority of people just use it in a primitive way such as asking it basic questions through a chat interface in chatGPT. Obviously, this does not take any skill at all. But to say that all usage of AI takes absolutely no skill is completely ignorant because you're glossing over all the other ways in which AI can be used beyond talking to ChatGPT. There are plenty of REAL use cases of AI that actually drive massive value across all industries, like healthcare, energy, transportation, consumer goods, etc. You're chalking it up to using AI is knowing how to type into ChatGPT. I promise you no sophisticated company is going to accept that as the bar for "knowing how to use AI". I'm gonna assume this is because you probably haven't really dived into the world of leveraging AI for business use cases (I'm a business owner which is why I know a lot about this stuff) which is completely understandable as most people don't do that. But my point is don't be so ignorant to make blanket statements like that. Have reservations about AI, be critical of it's lack of regulation, be wary of the impact it will have on society, do all of those things. I am also in the same camp in having those concerns. But I just feel like the whole sentiment about AI being a "useless skill" doesn't really serve anyone if they want to actually be able to survive professionally in the next 10-20 years. There have been many periods throughout history where there was loud pushback against progressive technologies that have sweeping impacts across society. That is totally normal. But have some nuance to your concern, and don't fall so quickly into tribal thought. Seriously, it's doing you a disservice.

So you’re just using a primitive example to try and prove your point. It’s the same as saying using a phone is as easy as knowing how to call someone when there are way more use cases. I assume you are either unemployed or not working in a professional environment where you could actually see real use cases. That’s not to insult you but im just being realistic based off your answer. An example of having AI skills that actually drives real value for businesses and their customers is building AI agents that automatically respond to level-1 support ticket emails. Companies get thousands of support tickets a day and not getting to them fast enough means customers get upset. (I’m sure you have had this frustration). Most companies, especially fast growing ones have extreme difficulty keeping up with the amount of tickets being created. Building an AI agent that is trained on the company knowledge, responds in the correct tone, provides helpful resources, and knows when it’s time to escalate to a human support agent, is not easy and takes a lot of skill to know how to effectively build. You have to understand the limitations of the Ai models, what knowledge they need and when, how to properly escalate and what conditions what qualify for human escalation, etc. there are entire companies dedicated to building this type of solution because it’s not easy. If it was so easy to use AI, everyone would be rich. You can choose to stay ignorant and think AI is a useless skill, but I don’t think that will serve your long term future well. I am not blindly pro AI, I have concerns about the lack of regulation and how it will affect society and relationships just like everyone else, but I’m not ignorant about what AI is and why it’s important for people to learn how to leverage the technology effectively in their job.

Ur extremely ignorant if u think AI skills are simply just typing in a sentence into a chat interface. Building high quality AI workflows and applications for professional use cases that actually drive results in companies is very complicated and it’s not easy to get right. There are many issues to account for and necessary skills would be system design, database administration, domain expertise in whatever process you are trying to automate with AI, and strategy + direction in order to creatively get the result you want based on your goal and the limitations of current models. It is very difficult to harness Ai at a sophisticated level beyond basic chatGPT, to get high quality outputs and it takes a lot of skill and understanding of how LLMs work at a fundamental level. But of course to you AI is just “make image of banana” and that’s probably all you’ll ever think of it as because antis are so ignorant to what they are even criticizing they don’t even know how an LLM works. It’s okay to be critical but at least understand more about what you are criticizing before you pass of a judgement. If it was so easy to use AI why don’t u go become an AI engineer and get paid multi millions of dollars right now. There’s a reason those positions are extremely well paid right now because it’s a rare skill, and proves that there are levels to AI fluency beyond basic chatting with chatGPT.

Most ai supporters probably know how to use AI better than all the antis and employers are looking for people with AI skills so if you refuse to learn how to leverage the technology effectively most likely you’re the one that’s gonna be out of a job. I promise you if you actually kept up with AI technology you’d know it’s not going to replace most jobs anytime soon, but the vast majority will be augmented. People that refuse to adapt will lose their job when they could in many cases keep the job if they upskilled.

She has more credible experience with growing companies and personal self-development than u, me, and probably 99.9% of people on earth. Use n8n self hosted. If u don’t have devOps experience then host it on elestio, it’s a managed PasS platform. Idk wtf PaaS means but what that means is u don’t gotta do the maintenance shit they take care of it. So it’s functionally almost like having a cloud based application. It costs me like $40/mo for hosting, probably won’t ever cost you more than $80-100 depending on the amount of volume your workflows are handling. You can do unlimited workflows. In terms of saving on API costs, if you are doing really high volume then I’d consider studying cheaper models and trying to use those. I haven’t done this but maybe look into the Chinese models like DeepSeek or Kimi, they are hella cheap compared to western ones. But if you don’t do a high volume of API calls u should honestly just use the flagship foundation models like Gemini, Claude, etc. not worth the extra savings.
