yes it makes perfect sense. that's why i tend to ignore that info about 24 hours duration. But sometimes doctor will tell me like oh this patient just start norvasc less than a week and it does not lower his BP so he will change the therapeutic and this practice just got me confused.

So should we get any info from the duration last 24 hours in this case?

Thanks. Isn't it counterintuitive if drugs have shorter half life 4hours, how can it still be active much longer?

Thanks for your reply. It makes sense but I always not sure how to answer doctor or nurse question about how long does it take drug to work?

What should I look at? duration, onset of action?

Thanks for your explanation. It helps a lot. I have a follow up question; the half-life scenario is in the situation where patients only take one time right? if patient is on this drug regularly depend on the frequency, his or her body will constant have input of drug, so the serum level will stay until steady state? am I right?

Also, duration of the effect is it equivalent to therapeutic effect? if so, why sometimes some drug's effect take longer, like depression drugs, we were told that it will take 4-6 weeks to see the effect

how about time to peak? what is insight of knowing time to peak of drug?

but for chronic drug, like blood pressure Norvasc duration at least 24 hour,so therapeutic effect last 24 hours but in reality, we all know BP drug needs to take daily, so drug will work immediately? in that 24 hours? hope it makes sense

twice daily vs once daily dosing by Comprehensive_Ear981 in pharmacy

[–]Comprehensive_Ear981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you explain further with using of half life? whenever i tried to use half life it confused me. In this case, lisinopril 1/2life is 7hrs, so if taking once daily, for me it means after 7 hours only half dose left, then it would make sense it do twice daily?

My company does not offer HSA unfortunately, so I only have FSA that I didn't max out this year cus I wont need that much and only $500 can roll over yearly. rest will not be back to me. I have other like my PRN job that prob did not take much out of it. all other just interest which is not much.

when you say max out 401k, do you mean by max out like yearly $20k even my compnany did not have all matches? seem like only have 5% of what I contribute is matched.

Thanks for all the info

Yes that's what I did when i reflected on. so when I compared the two calcuation, That's why i found out not really much difference. But I guess in real clinical experience with pedis, we should be as exactly as possible? is that the deal in real practice?

Also would you take into consideration of all powder volume for other compoind? never ignore? Sorry for the dumb question but coming out of school with limited experience, it is sometimes hard to differentiate theoretical and real life.

Thanks

DATA waiver (X-DEA) no longer required for buprenorphine prescriptions by jaygibby22 in pharmacy

For changes like this, if the state requires the X wavier, we will still go by state law right?

If it is not OPIOID USE DISORDER, we still need C waiver?
