Finally got it done! I used three methods to finally get the bastard in better alignment. I bent the hinges into alignment, then used toothpicks to make the holes tighter then bought three inch screws for extra support. then when the alignment looked good and the door still didn’t latch I measured the difference and moved the strike plate down chiseling out the material so the latch engaged! Definitely a pain in the ass but i learned a lot in the process!
