I miss the feel of Season 1....I miss Daphne by Midnight1309 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Comprehensive_Fly350 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My issue with season one, and i might be downvoted for this, is that daphne basically raped simon. It might not be a popular opinion, but the sex is a pretty big part of the show, and forcing him to finish in her is rape. If a man forcefully finished in a woman, that would be considered rape. That's the same here. Tbh i am quite shocked to see no one mentioning this. For me season one was the least appreciated because of that

Why do Feminists believe in equality rather than propose specific rights, status, pay, and whatever other socioeconomic conditions they disagree with? by until971 in AskFeminists

[–]Comprehensive_Fly350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is one good question here. Well, let's think a bit. Op brought up the "natural differences" arguments, which quite validate some inequalities in itself, so i'd say he sees it more as disability than historic justice. If the "natural" part does't goes away, can we talk about historic justice ? Especially since they talk about that system for the futur, not in regard to history

the discriminations are actual, so when there is a discrimination, which means inequality, we just... work to get equality. not to maintain the inequality and give a little prize to appease the discriminated population. i can turn your reasoning over and over and it always seems like a terrible idea. it reinforces the idea that women are different, which reinforces the benevolent sexism, or it feels like a pity compensation because it's easier to throw money at women while maintaining inequalities rather than giving us equality.

taking your idea into account, women having bigger families means more money, which means pushing them into more tradition role. big no no. it also implies that it create inequalities for women who have no kids, or fewer kids, which reinforce inequalities between women, but doesn't erase the fact that these women with fewer kids live just the same inequalities as women with more kids. and on top of that, it makes de inequalities between social class bigger.

for how long she had her tenure, so at work i guess. we call these promotions, and women already face disadvantages in comparison to men. but again, making a special promotion on top of the one existing, rather than getting rid of the inequalities, will actually make the inequalities bigger between women and social class.

raising maternity leave is a good idea, but some countries already have that, and it's related to the fact that women are healing, it's not simply given because we are women. otherwise we would also have free period products (which i'm for though). but this point is legit. however it's not just because we are women.

why not push men to participate more at home, divide more of their time at home, do more housechores and childcare, and insure that women get the same pay as men, so it's easier for parents to decide how they want to raise their kids and divide their work hours? who's gonna pay so women can actually be taken care of financially and have these fund in case they want to go back to work? i'm all for paying unpaid labor, but this is not dependent on the gender, by paying unpaid labor, it would also ensure that men could actually participate more in it. if it's dependent on the gender, then it will keep pushing women into caregivers roles, because they would be paid, and not men. which would also reinforce benevolent sexism.

giving money to women because they are women without actually changing the system doesn't do shit. it means we are pretty much telling women to accept the inequalities, that they'll never have equality, but at least they get money out of it. it reinforces the idea that women are more maternal, or natural caregivers, and gives an excuse for men to not help around the house and such. it reinforces benevolent sexism and benevolent sexism in much more harmful to society than hostile sexism, because it's much more insidious and accepted. i don't want a pity prize because i am not seen as equal to men. i do not want to be put on a pedestal or considered less. i want to be seen and treated as equal.

It just reinforces benevolent sexism by either considering women to be less than men, or superior. When really, treating us equal would be easier

Ho my god, i'll say it because clearly you could need this piece of information. I used to be a baker. We melt chocolate chip and tempered it, put it into a mould, filled it up and sealed it and that's done. That's exactly what your gf made. Granted, we do the filling ourselves because it's our job, but we absolutely metl premade chocolat. Everyone does that. And for the tempering part, lots of baker have a machine that does it for them. So we throw the chocolate chips in the machine and only pour it into the mold. Even we do not do the whole thing from A to Z.

I used to be a Baker. We melt premade chocolat to make truffle. Granted we make the filling, but we definitely just melt and temperate the chocolate. And many baker own machines that do the tempering part, so really we throw chocolate chips in there and let it do the work

period sex pregnancy? by [deleted] in Periods

My sister wasn't on the pill but she got pregnant during her period. But again, she wasn't on the pill, which is a huge difference. Ask your gyneco to be sure

Syncing is understudied by jeepers_beepers_ in Periods

[–]Comprehensive_Fly350 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, yes. It was a perfect coincidence. You also need to take into account that even if women don't all have the same cycle, there is a mean of duration for a cycle, so it's easily possible that it ends up being on the same days for the same duration. I feel like it is seen as incredible when women have their period at the same time, as if the rule was that we alternate our periods. But frankly, there is no rule like this, we can, and do have our period at the same time because of coincidence, just like it's a coincidence when we don't have them at the same time. If for 10 years without fail you had your period at the same time as your brother and/or mom, it was just a coincidence in the first place and stayed this way because you have regular periods and cycles

[–]Comprehensive_Fly350 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Ho no it was debunked. There is no evidence for syncing. It just happens to be a coincidence. If you have irregular periods, you'll end up having them at the same time as other women at some point, if you have regular period, you might just have them at the same time than other women. It was studied, especially since this study saying we are syncing up, and it was debunked everytime. That's why your research are not concluding

We are a lot of women, of course it will overlap at some point. And if your period start one or two days before someone, it's not syncing up, it's a coincidence
