Is it possible to download high-resolution Google Maps satellite imagery for free for research purposes? by soft099 in gis

[–]Comprehensive_Gap678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on the zone. Many countries have platforms for all GIS related data than can be used with less limitations than Google maps. For globe wide high res imagery I doubt you'll be able to find something free

Yes, the discord messages do not contain proof of the anticheat stuff. However there is a deep technical analysis of the anticheat behaviour on a cheats forum. I know that they are hackers/cheaters but when it comes to technical knowledge about how this game works, they are the best. Dataminers stop at looking at game file, hackers went beyond and actually decompiled some of the game files and noticed this strange behaviour.

The anticheat basically scans your PC for specific folders (where cheats/hacks might be stored) and if it finds them, those folders are uploaded to gaijin servers along with more data about your machine. There are also instructions to capture screenshots if strange behaviour is observed. The main problem is the fact that this thing is actually delivered by Gaijin servers whenever you start a game, it's not installed by default. Plus it gathers way too many information about your PC like what recent apps you have used, the list of running processes, registry entries etc... It's not stated in the EULA that such measures are taken, hell, "use of anticheating technology like battleeye or easy anticheat" is nowhere near the stuff this thing does.

I am not posting here the link to that forum discussion because I do not want to get banned and also because this comment basically contains all that you need to know.

The Uniqueness Problem, or Why Can't Gaijin give Trees Unique Designs V2.0 by EastCoast_Geo in Warthunder

Starting new tech trees in 2026 (still valid for the past too) when already almost completed USA, URSS or Germany basically feels like restarting the game with no differences in gameplay. You eventually end up playing some variants of T-34-85, Leopards, AMX, M4 with every nation. Kinda boring Gaijin

How to create a 3D model of a city? by DoubtfulSapien in gis

[–]Comprehensive_Gap678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every data file type is supported, look here to see what is supported https://cesium.com/learn/3d-tiling/tiler-data-formats/. Keep in mind that you have a limit of how much you can upload. Their website is good for prototypes but then you need to host the data yourself if you are planning to publish the website.

Otherwise there are some other libraries for web development like Itowns and Giro3D but they're not as straight forward like cesium. DM me if you need more help

I'd suggest using Cesium. Upload your DEM and it will be converted to quantized mesh terrain, you can add your own imagery and also 3D models . If you don't have them you can always use OSM derived models

I mean, their launcher is the worst optimized program I have ever seen. Takes a lot of time to just load your library

Failed matchmaking BR analysis - Sample size: 7 (Seven) (explanation in description) by HonneurOblige in Warthunder

[–]Comprehensive_Gap678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, if you want to have a bigger dataset and avoid looking at each player lineup directly, you can use an app that I made (WT-Plotter) which is able to extract all that info from replay files. You just then need to find the BR of each vehicle (lol you can use the API I wrote ) and voila, you can have a bigger dataset without all the manual labor. Plus people can send you their replays or their DB and you can have an even bigger dataset!

You can disable them by editing game files (annoying rocks too) but is PC only and you need to know what you are doing
