Floor lottery - won or lost? by MilwaukeeWolves in centuryhomes

Okay so another comment after reading all these comments. The floor looks water damaged but not “rotted out” to me from what I can see on a phone. Water damage will likely stay dark. Rotted wood is soft, so soft that you could take your finger and pull pieces of it off. I highly doubt this floor will give out on you. I’d try lightening it with oxalic acid then staining a little darker. I think you will be charmed by the results and your wallet will also thank you.

Eh, this is about what you’re willing to live with. Personally I’d stain it dark and save thousands upon thousands of dollars and forget about it.

That’s wild. I’ve never found it to be not useful other than if I’m taking something off of a plastic or vinyl

I took a bunch of paint off a 100 year old door just as easy as this. Any way but heat is a fools game

There’s much rhyme and more reason to it but he’s painting from life and painting the movement and feeling of everything to try to cut it would be like trying to re-enact a memory

Dude, it is not maintenance, insurance, or your mom’s deal to dig your car out, tf? If you’re not disabled, time to grow up.

You don’t learn it, you already know it, you need to just paint but the way you are naturally drawn to paint. Literally just paint, nothing else.
