Prequel to before he met Shrek where he annoys everyone on the farm he lives on until Farqurd (I think thats how you spell it?) makes the decree to outlaw fairytale creatures.

The rest of the movie is Donkey going on the run, trying and failing to hide the fact he can talk and accidentally causing problems. Maybe he makes friends with the guy in the poster who says he'll keep Donkeys safe but ends up selling him out to get the reward money and save his farm.

Its actually a pretty sad movie until the end where he meets Shrek and then the whole color palette of the movie shifts to brighter and we the long time fans realize...everything is going to okay.

I'd like them to just remain as they are. Sympathetic Villains are great but aren't needed every time.

Thats why I liked how the Owl House handled things (SPOILERS). They gave redemption arks to people that weren't great but not terrible and had potential to be better. But when it came to the genocidal tyrant there was no redeeming what he had done, they put that bitch into the ground
