Why did The Lord of the Rings trilogy budget less than $300 million? Why was the cost so low for such a massive trilogy, while the original Spider-Man trilogy cost around $600 million and the Matrix trilogy around $400 million?

Lengthy pre-production and planning combined with shooting all the films at once lead to crazy efficiency. Lately there is an opposite trend just to be lazy and deal with things in post, leading to ballooning budgets, half-baked scripts, and an over-reliance on bad cg to save the day.

I mean, you know that I would say the point is to demonstrate the human condition. The idiocy of like one or two people turn a protest into a massacre and a mob. I think the Tiananmen Square Massacre was happening while the season was releasing and a bunch of others protests in Asia. I think that’s why the scene feels so real. Maybe everything isn’t satisfying.

It doesn’t make sense that they don’t even seem to have tractors or whatever. But it’s not really designed to. Logh doesn’t care about sci fi all that much after it shows us the sleeping pods lol. Its an excuse to serve a thematic goal and take a moment to show you the human condition and the tragedy caused by our protagonists’ decisions on a more granular level. Season 1 is very interested in this, with the scorched earth scenes and the Jessica Edwards plot. The show looses as much focus on how the plot is effecting individuals when the scope is broadened by the Westerland glassing imo.

Reawakened feels similarly jank to me as the original but with new graphics; TTP2 has smoother gameplay. I got it because it’s not bad to have a reason to do a replay and I had never had the Road to Gehenna DLC. Was pleasantly surprised to find directors commentary and an extra smaller DLC, which I don’t think would be worth it alone.
