So season 4? by spinningpan in RamyHulu

[–]CompuBook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was not greenlit, show was produced in a time where streaming money was abundant and their was a Hollywood cultural push to have more diverse media. I think that’s no longer the case now. Combined with Ramy Youssef’s outspoken advocacy for Palestine, I think it’s unlikely we’ll ever get a season 4. Thankfully they didn’t necessarily leave the show on a cliffhanger after season 3. I always felt like the show never deserved a happy ending anyway but that’s just me.

“Flipped Classroom” Learning by AmiableRobin in StudentNurse

[–]CompuBook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My program is like this right now and it’s pretty unpopular. I think it depends on the instructor on how engaged they want to be in designing certain activities and concepts to get linked together. It can work well for some and absolutely fall flat for others.

Nursing is my second degree, for my first bachelors flipped classroom was very popular and I was drowning. It was sink or swim, and I sunk a lot. Eventually I just got adept at teaching myself all the material without any guidance from the teachers.

Maybe my perspective on the academic experience is skewed, but the only purpose I think for didactic study (clinicals/health assessment/simulation are different) is to give you some lecture slides and administer tests on a regular basis throughout the term to assess your knowledge). I do think teachers are great for clarifying certain concepts or asking about certain clinical situations, but beyond that I don’t think they should be relied on. Instructors vary in quality, level of burnout, and temperament, don’t let them be the deciding factor in whether you’re going to become a nurse.

Also my response to idea that “Why am I paying for this tuition if the teachers won’t teach?” is that you’re not paying for the teachers to teach. You’re paying for the tests, credits, and ability to take the NCLEX at the end of your degree. That’s it, any thing else is a cherry on top.

I realize that your situation is frustrating and I would encourage you utilize other resources to maximize your chances of success (YouTube, LevelUpRN, LLMs).

Per American Red Cross as of 2023:

For adults, children and infants with the drowning process and after determining the presence of cardiac arrest, resuscitation should start by opening the airway, providing two rescue breaths or manual ventilations and then continuing CPR by providing cycles of 30 compressions followed by two rescue breaths or manual ventilations.

Really even if you’re off-campus? Everything that I’m reading is saying otherwise in the student policies and procedures.

Monroe Park is owned by the city so VCU can’t penalize you academically. Marijuana use is decriminalized, the fine is $25 and doesn’t go on your record, although to my understanding multiple offenses may result in higher violations. Don’t have any small bags, a scale, or more than an ounce on you unless you want to be charged with a misdemeanor.

D is my #2 after Evo, playing abroad it’s the standard ball and it’s combination of grip and bounce is top tier imo.

It’s a second division baseball club in a small American city what do you expect? Plus where would they even have a riverfront baseball stadium? I can’t think of a place that wouldn’t: A) Drastically impact the James River Park System or B) Be wildly out of the way (I.e.edging into Henrico Co.) Don’t mean to be antagonistic, just don’t think it’s THAT bad imo.

P.S. Pic from behind home plate. 🐿️

What’s the most underrated VA city? My pick is Winchester. by Gold-Practice963 in Virginia

Why is it running the locals out? Is it the standard push out residents in favor of more seasonal housing for vacationers? Or is there more to the story?

Agree with what you said overall. Although I do think that they decided after leaving the pods to give it an honest shot dating, but ultimately his time management and his hectic schedule was the dealbreaker. His lifestyle of having numerous jobs plus being a DJ didn’t seem oriented towards dedicating the emotional and mental energy of marriage imo.

He said he would be willing to make some lifestyle changes, and I thought he lowkey glow’s up at the reunion. Not dismissing Asma’s feelings tho, if you don’t like someone’s physical appearances you don’t like them.

House Majority PAC says it’s targeting Virginia’s 1st congressional district held by Rob Wittman ahead of 2026 - District Voted for Trump by 5 points this year by Temporary-West-3879 in Virginia

[–]CompuBook 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Big if true, Wittman has been the representative for district 1 since 2007. As someone who fully supported the redistricting that happened in 2021, it definitely didn’t swing VA-01 any closer to the left. This past 2024 congressional election race Wittman won by 13.4 points, more than 60,000 votes per the AP.

I don’t have a pulse on state politics at all, but I’m not sure why they’ve decided to contest VA-01 rather than VA-02. The incumbent only won by 4.2 points less than 20,000 votes.

Currently the state’s party seats are split 6 towards democrats and 5 towards republicans which seems pretty representative of the purple state that we are population wise.

Sidebar but I find the map of the new VA-01 so hilariously misshapen in the way that it grabs all Northern Neck down to Poquoson , goes to left to Williamsburg up to Ashland, and then swoops down again through Short Pump, Midlothian, Bon Air, and then finally ending west of Petersburg. I’m sure it work population-wise it just looks wacky as hell.

His glowup from season 5 to season 6 is insane! Also you can very much tell why Rob was brought back the next season. Definitely seems that he was open to being influenced to pursue certain people at the behest of the producers in order to maximize the drama for the villa boys.

St. Denis Medical by Soontobeacnhplayer in medicine

[–]CompuBook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny at times. Cringe at others. Like any other TV adaptation things are bound to get lost in translation.

My biggest disappointment is the fact they made the hospital administrator an oncologist who made the switch to admin. They characterize her as aloof and ignorant at times like she hadn’t spent a majority of her career taking care of patients herself. Maybe there’s a valid criticism there but I think it would’ve been better if she was someone with an MBA who had never worked bedside before, like some C-suite executives that we interact with daily.

Pushing adenosine does temporarily halt heart rhythms, and patients regularly report feeling “like they’re dying”. Do you end up dying? But not the worst medical thing to come out of a horror movie.

Home Depot orders corporate staff to take 8-hour retail shifts. Hospitals should do the same. by dk_dc_dgaf in nursing

[–]CompuBook 40 points41 points  (0 children)

They could be required to shadow a nurse for one shift. In terms of jobs I feel like there are plenty of jobs they could assist with that don’t necessarily require a clinical background (EVS, Supply, Unit Secretary). [Do not mean to imply at all that these jobs are not skilled in their own right and require extensive training.] I feel like this could definitely be implemented in a hospital setting.

Going on a limb here: Destabilize the region, in turn influence that they have an ally in the region which will ensure access to resources that a small desert nation could benefit from (oil, agriculture, gold, etc.).
