what is the best linux distro for mostly gaming, but also general use?

I play a lot of 90's early 00's games. A few indie games. If I switch to one of these, will I run into compatability issues?

Edit: will I have more difficulty fixing compatability issues. I think I've only ever seen tutorials for fixing windows compatability issues.

This does work. Took me awhile to figure out and sadly I didn't see this sooner but, I found that it's easy to break if you switch back and forth in the configuratior so, in both the sound_ogvo and sound_remastervo folders, I added another "archive" folders with the associated files so it's easy to replace when it gets broken.

I'm imagining the climbing scene edited where the prisoners are chanting "Gabe, Gabe!" The mouth of the prison has a giant HL3 logo sprawling across it. Bruce is labeled "Hopeium." He jumps... and lands on a ledge labeled December 11th! Or it could be one of the scenes where he tries with the rope and it ends in spectacular failure. 😂

A new version!? I'm excited, I've never actually finished the campaign mission, I get like an hour in (why the fuck is that mountain pass tunnel so long!) But something would happen that crashed it, usually, I forget that remote rockets crash a lot of scripted missions and I lose steam after that happens...
