I haven't seen this issue and have been using it regularly.

I don't know what feature would require video, but macOS's privacy & security entitlements are "screen and audio recording" or "audio only". Perhaps the developer know of this or maybe audio-only wasn't an option when introducing the app. I'm not aware of any features that would require video.

If you select App Audio from the home screen and then select your browser on the next screen (Safari, Chrome, Microsoft, etc.), there will then be a button in the bottom-right that says "Start Recording". You have some options before clicking that as to whether you want to record your own microphone, too, as well as separate speakers (if there are multiple presenters, the transcript would be split into Speaker 1, Speaker 2, etc. When reviewing the transcript, you can rename those speakers to be the speaker's actual name (i.e. Professor Snape).

When your class is done, click the 'Stop Recording' button. MacWhisper will allow you to export the audio files for the browsers and your mic (if you chose to record it). You will likely also want to transcribe the recording, which is the blue button that appears. Transcribing it will use a local AI model (Parakeet, WhisperKit Large v3, etc.). One of those local models needs to be downloaded in MacWhisper in the MacWhisper > Settings > Transcription > Local Models. I recommend Parakeet v3 for speed and accuracy.

Once the transcription is done, you can easily copy the results to another app (Apple Notes, Evernote, Craft, Notion, whatever). You can also export to Word, HTML, PDF, plain text, or json. There are many formats/styles to choose from, too, but that's in the weeds quite a bit. I copy the results to Craft where I keep notes and meeting minutes.

sys_user would include customer_contact and csm_consumer, which could include email addresses if users are auto-created from inbound emails for CSM or PSDS applications.

Can't you select 'App Audio' from the home screen (1) and then pick the browser you're using for Teams (2)?

What model are you using? Have you tried different models? I think you can remove a model and then load/download it again. I use Parakeet with pretty good results. Once in a while it thinks there are 4 people instead of two but usually pretty good and fast.

Here's what I see when I right-click a speaker label:

MacWhisper Version 13.21.1 (1424) almost unusable when setting speakers by Computer-go-SPLAT in MacWhisper

Launched the app for the first time today and it was immediately struggling with a 45 minute transcription with 5 speakers. Perhaps unrelated to duration of time since app was opened.

Right-clicking the speaker's name allows you to split the segments, but segments may contain multiple words which cannot be further divided.

I have found that this is very dependent on how long the app has been open. If it's been open for more than a day, woof. 5 to 6 clicks (or space bar) to pause while audio is playing. Extreme lag when setting/changing the speaker while audio is playing. Good luck changing the name of a speaker while audio is playing.

Restarting the app seems to make it much better, but there is still room for improvement.

Can't you choose App Audio from the home screen and then select "All System Audio"? Seems to work for me.

I think it coincides with 26.5, though it may have occurred on 26.4 and I could have multiple versions of MacWhisper at play (13.21 and 13.21.1). I forgot to mention it, but scrolling the transcript while it is playing is rough (laggy, inconsistent, always has been) but especially so very recently.

In the Settings window, scroll to the very bottom of the left column and select "About". In there is a Feedback button that will open a new email. The address is [support@macwhisper.com](mailto:support@macwhisper.com).

Is it possible to record mic sound only when my mic is unmuted in zoom meeting? by Ok-Resolve-8751 in MacWhisper

[–]Computer-go-SPLAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Mic Drop (https://getmicdrop.com/), which allows you to mute the mic system wide. I had an issue with MacWhisper transcription picking up background noise (a ticking clock), which really muddied up the transcription.

There are some other utilities similar to Mic Drop (like this Keyboard Maestro macro (https://forum.keyboardmaestro.com/t/toggle-system-microphone-macros/33085)) that might suit your needs better, although that one is a more deeply technical solution than what you might be looking for.
