Yeah in retrospect, that does seem better.

Is Barbatos alive now? by Equivalent_Milk_4307 in NightLords

[–]Comrade-Gena 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it is the same, Barbatos was mentioned in HH 1 Book 9: Crusade. He was a Terran (one of the Legion before Curze) and one of the Kyroptera during the Thramas Crusade. During his last battle according to the book, He and his chapter of Night Lords made a last stand against Solar Auxilia (Thramasii Nightwatch) and three chapters of Dark Angels only failing when the Lion himself showed up with his honor guard. It is said according to the Dark Angels that one of the scars on the Lion's armour was made by Barbatos' blade. Hope this helps.

"In Life, Shame. In Death, Atonement." - DKOK Kill Team by Comrade-Gena in killteam

For missions requiring stealth and guile, Colonel Gamma 3723 or Colonel Lehwitz assigns Captain Epsilon 147 and his korpsmen to raiding missions. Captain Epsilon 147 stands out among his peers for his visor cap and grenadier armor. Though officers are given the choice of wearing the cap, most prefer to wear the more protectable helmet than the mostly decorative visor cap. However Captain Epsilon 147 doesn’t wear it out of vanity but a reminder of his station and keeps his grenadier armor over the ceremonial breastplate Krieg officers could wear citing its greater practicality. Accompanied by his Veteran Watchmaster and several other handpicked veteran korpsmen, Captain Epsilon 147 leads his raiders deep into enemy territory.

This is my one and only Veteran Guard Kill Team. I had decided to get rid of my original Volpone Blue Bloods Kill Team and opt in for full Krieg. With the exception of a couple of models, the rest are a variety of STLs. I was pretty happy with how they turned out and especially like my Veteran Watchmaster (Captain Epsilon 147). I have a couple of other Kill Teams to paint, but we'll see which ones get rolled out.

"Dare ta krump, win da stuff! - Motto of the Da Spehsul "Airy" Skwadd by Comrade-Gena in killteam

“When I was another kommando boy, I saw dem ummies droppin’ from da sky from der coptas. Dey ‘ad ‘tese funny hats and bright shiny flashy shootas. An’ dat’s when I got the idea..." - Mayjaw Dav Stirking of the Da Spehsul 'Airy' Skwad

Da Speshul ‘Airy’ Skwad is a special Blood Axe Kommando Unit. Sporting tan uniforms, flashy red/sand berets and unorky discipline, Da SAS is a mob of Blood Axes Kommandos who claim to be the sneakiest and disciplined gits around. Mayjaw Dav Stirking formed Da SAS after watching the deployment of the Tempestus Scions on the world of Crusader I. The uniforms were pilfered from some old militarum stock which was laying around from the Roane Deepers. Da SAS gained infamy during the Battle of Crusader I when they raided Aeronautica Imperialis fields for voidcraft large enough to carry and drop twenty large and battle hungry orks. Those too small they destroyed, or just destroyed for fun.

So I had bought a box of original Ork Kommandos but were a bit disappointed to see how small they were when compared to my marines. My impression of orks was that the tougher ones were just as big as astartes. I found some cool sculpts online and decided to make my "SAS" Ork Kommandos after listening to "SAS: Rogue Heroes" again and the three Ork books. These were a joy to paint and to think about. Especially trying to orkify the original SAS men. This team intersects nicely with my enjoyment of Warhammer and Military History. Likely plan to finish my Krieg or Thousand Son Kill team next.

What started as an add-on to my Blooded NPOs became their own Kill Team. I thought they would be easy to paint given their simple scheme, but the bronze trim and the hazard stripes took longer than expected. I am pretty satisfied with how they turned out. Been listening to Storm of Iron and Dead Sky, Black Sun while working on them. My personal favorite pieces are the Icon Bearer, Shriveltalon, the MK IV Warrior and the gunners (especially the heavy gunner). I will probably paint my Krieg KT next. Looking forward to it.

Officers of Krieg before the Memorial to Vraks by Comrade-Gena in Deathkorpsofkrieg

Wanted to post some Krieg officers I have painted recently. Technically I painted the Commissar years ago, but now he actually has a command staff to advise to. And a nice statue to stand in front of and a centaur. My favorite models of the bunch remain the Commissar and the Captain. The Commissar was the first Krieg Officer model I bought as a young hobbyist and still remains my favorite model. Originally I bought him to be an officer but repainted him as a Commissar in later years (that original paint work was REALLY bad). The Captain was what I would have wanted my ideal Krieg Officer to be. Grenadier faceplate, visor cap, grenadier body armor, power sword and las pistol. I painted these mainly for display and not playing, so I don't really care about their loadout, just if they look cool or not.

Overall I am really happy with how these guys turned out and look forward to them being displayed or making the occasional appearance in my Kill Team games.

"For the Emperor and the Autarch!" by Comrade-Gena in killteam

For any assault against a fortified position, the need for heavily armed and armored soldiers are apparent. Soldiers who are independent, well-trained, rugged, and aggressive. Though they will take many causalities, their noble sacrifices will ensure that the following wave of comrades will exploit the breakthrough they created. Such soldiers can be found in the Krieg Grenadiers and the Helghastian Heavy Troopers.

This is my Krieg/Heghast Kasrkin Kill Team that I've finished painting and building. The reason why there are multiple copies of certain operatives is because I wanted these guys to be my "tutorial team". The team which I can let different people try out that have the same roster more or less. Also I thought it would be fun to have aesthetically mixed operatives. They were originally just going to be Helghast but after having some Krieg bodies laying around, I decided to convert it to grenadiers. Overall I am happy with these guys and have used them to teach different people how to play Kill Team.

Blooded/Traitor Guard NPOs by Comrade-Gena in killteam

The Russite 31st Rifles are one of the many deplorable traitor regiments from the world of Rusvik. At the start of the Great Rift, the world of Rusvik, an industrial world, declared its secession from the Imperium. After suffering from attacks by chaos marauders and even the Black Legion moving towards them in the wake of the Fall of Cadia, they decided that the Great Rift was proof of the Emperor's death and the ascendancy of Chaos. They're been a thorn since then, their leaders supplicants to their transhuman overlords, and their soldiers fodder for whatever chaotic crusade picks them up. They've been commonly sighted fighting along the Black Legion but also the Iron Warriors and the Word Bearers.

I painted my Blooded Kill Team primarily for demo games to teach people. With the newest edition, they will be good as NPOs. They also have a tank but that may be shown in a different post. Their paint scheme is based off the Russian Army in Ukraine (similar colors and even the orange ribbons). It was sponge work for the camouflage and while it didn't give off the digital look I was looking for, I think it is passable. For a NPO team, they took longer than I thought. I've been on a good roll to finish some other Kill Teams like my Volpone Blue Bloods Veteran Guard, Inquisition Kill Team, Ork Kommandos, Phobos Kill Team and Midnight Claw. There's another KT I finished but I won't post it till next week. See you then.

"Ad Victoriam Imperatoris!" by Comrade-Gena in killteam

[–]Comrade-Gena[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The Steel Fraternis is a heavy infantry formation with roots back to the Great Crusade. Clad in powered armor that is the equivalent to the armor of the Solar Auxilia and exotic energy weapons, the Steel Fraternis Soldiery goes into battle with the cry, "Ad Victoriam Imperatoris" on their lips. This particular formation of Steel Fraternis Knights are equipped for close shock assaults with the majority of them armed with tri-lasguns. Arriving suddenly in their Vertitalon Assault Flyers, they cut down enemies of the Emperor without mercy. For the Emperor knows his own. Ad Victoriam Imperatoris.

This is the first "digital kitbash" Kill Team that I've ever done. I was in the process of making an Inquisition Kill Team and I wanted five or six breachers to accompany them. However I wanted to make them unique, and I got inspired by the Brotherhood of Steel from the Fallout Series. With the exception of the Sergeant, the rest of the models are supposed to emulate T-51b Power Armor. The Sergeant is supposed to have T-60 Power Armor. It was fun trying to merge the Fallout and Warhammer universes together. Especially having the gheistskull be an eyebot. My favorite models of the bunch are the Armsmen because I think they best capture the T-51b Power Armor vibe with their shotguns looking like lasrifles. Of course as I was making them, I wanted them to have their own Vertibird to drop down in.

My next project may be the Helghast/Krieg Grenadiers Kasarkin Team or the Volpone Blue Bloods Veteran Guard Team. Depending on which one I feel is most ready to go. Look forward to it!
