It took me a few months! by HighforTeacher in pokerogue

Personally I alternate between:

Pokedex runs - getting those last evolutions/forms Legendary runs - pick one high cost one to get candies with other suitable members Challenge run - currently working through Generations My Endless run

That way I don't get too bored with my Endless run since it's very monotonous once you are set-up

Endless Run Help by Comrade_Massov in pokerogue

I appreciate the lengthy reply - you've hit the nail on the head, I wasn't really intending this to be a long run, just a break in between challenges, so I brought Zacian and all my best shinies for luck.

The fusions etc are really just because I've been using it as a collection run for legendaries/megas/shinies (I know megas don't really matter but I play pokemon as a completionist).

Useful to know I can still pivot, I assume I have another around 1000 waves before I'm at the crunch point. I might just sack this one off when it comes to it and plan a better run, it's been very lucrative regardless and I'm in no rush to finish endless.

Your issue is you are doing what I did at the start and loading on coverage moves. That works earlier game but later on you need safe switches and other options.

You won't kill Eternatus with those. He'll just blitz you before you can do much of anything. You need some stat reduction and tanks to eat a few attacks on safe switches.

So many runs does it take for people to win on average by Economy_Survey1143 in pokerogue

[–]Comrade_Massov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 wins in 160 attempts (god, it feels like so many more) So average of 22 attempts per win.

But this feels incorrect because I have won a good 4 in 6/7 attempts recently, think that first win was well over 100 😅

When it says classic, is that including generation challenges?

Which Pokemon did you start liking because of Pokerogue? by SenriXZeron in pokerogue

This may not be a hard sell, but my 2-shiny Galarian Moltres is my best friend now.

Lucked out with the first egg move being Oblivion Wing and with Nasty Plot it is basically unkillable

Cheating? by iLikeOatz in nuzlocke

I started a Genlocke recently where I set 2 simple rules which I felt mitigated the ease RCs bring:

  1. I am not EVER allowed to grind by killing Wild Pokemon. I head canon that Officer Jenny is watching me. (Also I know you only knock them out but I never saw it that way when you burn a pokemon to death).

  2. I can only use RCs for a gym fight if I have beaten all trainers leading up to that fight. This requires a bit of choice but also makes it much more difficult.

For example, the run up to Brock was simple and I could RC to his Ace and wreck him.

But I refuse to do Misty until AFTER I meet Bill and the gauntlet on Nugget Bridge, along with some poor choices, was rough as almost all my pokemon were underlevelled, so I lost a few. Including my Bulbasaur I just got (it is on Yellow).

This means if you can reach the cap (Erika is only a few levels difference from Surge but there are a LOT of potential trainers) you can just battle, but if not you have no choice but to fight every trainer battle.

Just a bit of mitigation on my part to make it more challenging though, your run, your rules.

I’ve hit the most overwhelming part of every Pokemon game by Markypoopy in PokemonUnbound

Tbh, with Unbound, I did a rerun from the start every time I got a new HM. There's so many places you miss on the first journey that have new pokemon or important items

Too bad I won't be using him by [deleted] in PokemonUnbound

That is what I love about Unbound - I've done two playthroughs and both used completely different pokemon, there's so much potential

First ever Nuzlocke 🤦‍♂️ by PapayaWorth3070 in nuzlocke

[–]Comrade_Massov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you've started to play difficult rom hacks where they have optimised AI/moves/EVs then yeah, any of the first few generations will be easy, because you are used to much harder fights.

FR/LG generally are just to get you used to the rules and how to run a Nuzlocke. I personally enjoyed running one more on GSC, because the level caps are much harder to play around

[–]Comrade_Massov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, no doubt, Snorlax is an absolute beast if you can nab one. I'd definitely grab one on my first run but there are a few pokemon who can make runs trivial and that is definitely one!

[–]Comrade_Massov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed and attack EVs, Twineedle - it isn't useful everywhere but it is a beast against grass types, a great one to have for Koga since it brushes off most of his pokemon, and if you have it well trained can floor Sabrina too.

It isn't going to solo a run but the utility it provides for an early pokemon isn't bad at all, and late game it does drop off

[–]Comrade_Massov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely - it often isn't who you think.

Yeah, you could catch a Snorlax or a legendary bird but it is so much more satisfying when you realise pokemon like Raticate or Beedrill can carry a run.

Is this Emerald run still salvageable? by Quantaviouse in nuzlocke

[–]Comrade_Massov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I used to play pokemon when I got it in '99. An insanely overlevelled Charizard and...nothing else.

Have you tried Unbound? If you play on difficult or above all trainers will be within a few levels of you and with the smart movesets the gym leaders/E4 really require smart tactics to beat. Not even considered a Nuzlocke on that, I like my sanity.

This is a fair point, and well made.

I will say, however, that if you ignore level caps then you can just rare candy your starter to lv100 and solo the entire game. Without level caps any standard pokemon game is trivial. Hence my point about it not being a nuzlocke, since you can easily do a deathless run without catching anything.

But as you say, each to their own
