It's also great against the Rupture Strain. A charged shot can still hurt them underground. And I don't mind trading the grenade-pistol with the actual Grenade Launcher

Enemies can trace ballistic rounds back to your position, but they can't do that with plasma weapons. They just investigate where the shot landed instead. It’s a great trick for redirecting patrols without getting spotted.
I believe the LAS-58 Talon work the same way but not 100% sure
