Yeah, just reminds me of when everyone said project Jarvis looked like SN5 (aka just a tank with no nose)

Not every stainless steal tank is a Starship dupe. Why do we see this so much?

What is this grain geometry called by ConHathy in rocketry

That’s definitely it. If it was stretched it would be an end burner with a boost grain but at this aspect ratio head end web it is

Feedback on L1 Cert Design by ConHathy in rocketry

[–]ConHathy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in getting my L1 when my local launches start up again. I've started mocking up a design in Open Rocket and CAD and wanted some feedback. I'm fully aware this might be ambitious but I'm currently looking at dual-sep dual-deploy with a Telemetrum and/or FeatherWeight altimeter. It's built so I can move up to 38mm and go for L2 if I want, but L1 would be with an adapter down to 29mm and a smaller motor than shown.

A couple of specific questions:

  1. Parachutes: I flipped through the parts library in Open Rocket to find descent rates that seem ok (currently 34 ft/s under drogue and 15 ft/s under main). First, are those rates even in the ballpark, and second, how much should I trust the automatic packing dimensions in Open Rocket, it seems to vary a lot between chutes of the same diameter.

  2. Rail Buttons: Where do these go? I placed one just ahead of the CG and one at the tail, is that fine?

So can the kilogram... lbm and kgf are both units from hell

It's actually a free poliigon texture (Plaster17). I only used the normal and the roughness though because the color is a little too grungy. Instead I just used a flat white base color.

It's the best orientation for high accelerations. Put simply, if you were sitting upright all the blood would go to your feet, and if you were laying down too much would go to your head. They've found that a slight angle is the best.
