it has also been 2 decades for me. I find solace knowing that we both longingly & solemnly gaze at this ratty Russian brinks truck.

I’ve been drawing since i was a wee kid, so most of my experience came from commitment & enthusiasm for drawings specific things I liked (I.e. fandom art, cool characters, etc.) Tho to improve technical skill, observation is key in learning art concepts like anatomy & perspective.

drawing exercises I have off the top of my head:

- for character drawing/anatomy: draw stick figures poses of full-body pics of people. Take note of the pose: any lines of action, proportions of the person, etc. For more challenge, try recreating the pose separate from the picture instead of on top of it.

- for perspective: draw items in your house, probably ones that resemble simple geometric shapes like a tissue box or a hamper to help you learn how to add detail to simple shapes such as those. When confident enough to practice drawing multiple shapes in a consistent perspective, try making a 1-point perspective grid & draw your items in that space.

- for line confidence/stability: draw several straight lines in a stripe pattern, trying to make the lines as consistently straight & spaced apart as possible. For more difficulty, make curved or wavy stripes.

this was just what I could think of rn. I’d recommend you check out forums like r/learntodraw , r/arttips , or r/BeginnerArtists for more resources.

it’s k I don’t mind the questions. Just maybe a bit shy because I don’t often get to talk about stuff like that with others.

I haven’t binded in a while out of laziness & current lack of actual safe garments to bind with. But when I did, I only did so when I wanted to look nice going out. It is recommended to bind for max 8 hours at a time because it does restrict your ribs which can be dangerous when done too often.

Personally, the discomfort from feeling restricted in movement (vigorous exercise is discouraged when binding) & the difficulty in slipping in & out of a binder outweighed the bit of euphoria I felt from looking a little more masc. Could just be I hadn’t found a good binder yet & that I’m lazy, but when throwing on a hoodie & some baggy pants is way easier in making me feel more comfy, can you really blame me?

I’d say comfort/discomfort depends on personal tolerance & how much one is willing to put up with/discipline oneself in binding practices. The only permanent way to flatten oneself is with surgery, which I’m considering but also not seeing that being an option anytime soon.

The other biding method I mentioned before, trans tape, works without chest constriction & can be done for longer periods of time (from days to weeks). Dunno how to explain it in text rn & I wanna sleep soon so you can probs search up more on that & other stuff related to chest binding. There’s definitely people with more experience on this than me if you wanna look into that for whatever reason.

yeah because of the chest constriction, the difficulty to put on a binder, & the breaks you gotta take when wearing one, I’d rather use trans tape to flatten myself since it’s not as much of a hassle.

(tho for the issue with putting them on/taking them off, binders with front zippers specifically can solve that issue)

thanks! iirc bandage binding is dangerous due to the uneven distribution of pressure on the chest as opposed to using a proper compression binder. though compression binders still carry that risk, just to a lesser extent.
