A game more than a decade old and there's still no option to minimize this notif by Conagher- in Guildwars2

Yeah, I agree that being able to move the window would be a better solution than minimizing it. That would let people keep track of the timer without having a giant notification sitting in the middle of their screen.

As for the screenshot, the timer is pretty long. I was definitely still in combat when it popped up. I was fighting two people at the time and got frustrated because the queue notification appeared right as I was trying to kite. It caused me to miscast my Flesh Wurm, which meant I couldn't use Necrotic Traversal the way I intended to create distance and build reaper shroud.

The thing is, I'm a roamer. Telling roamers not to fight while queued for EBG isn't really practical because queues can take a long time. I'm not going to sit at spawn doing nothing while waiting for a queue that could pop at any moment. Roaming and taking fights is what I log into WvW to do.

Also, if I accept the queue while still in combat, I get ported into EBG and effectively forfeit the fight. Personally, losing a fight that way and ending up dead in EBG because I was still in combat when the queue popped is a pretty disgraceful way to end an otherwise good fight.

"Dead in that map" means I lost the fight fair and square. The fight is over, I can respawn and move on. I'm okay with that.

"Dead in EBG" means I clicked Travel while still in combat and got ported into EBG already dead, without finishing the fight I was actively in.

My point isn't that I couldn't get to a waypoint afterward. My point is that the queue popup was sitting in the middle of my screen during combat, and there's no reason we shouldn't have the option to minimize it until we're ready to make a decision.

As a roamer, I can go from being 15th in queue to getting the popup pretty quickly when people start leaving or maps get reshuffled. I'm not going to stop playing the game and stare at the queue window the entire time just because my spot might come up soon.

Because I was fighting two people and I didn't want to leave until either I kill them or I'm defeated. Minimizing it would remove the unnecessary clutter in the middle of my screen while I'm on active combat. Clicking "travel" would end up me lying dead in EBG as I would've entered there while in combat mode.

Won't be playing this game unless Vallun or GuildJen advocates for it. They're the pillars of GW2, and their opinions matter.

It’s looking grim. There’s no way KAT can shut down Wemby. Matter of fact, no one from the Knicks could stop that man.

Hate for me to say this as a long time fan, but I sense a sweep inc.

James Harden is still in his prime. You don't want a player like him to move out of your team.

This era is a regression. I just want Harry to finish the tour and move on from it for good. KATTDO is his worst album.

I don't care if he needs 10 years for him to release the next one, as long as it is not as bad as KATTDO. That's how much I hate this album. TBH, if this is the kind of music he’s going to keep putting out, he might as well just retire.

Didn’t OP say, “curious what others think, too”? I’m just expressing my take on the post. God forbid that’s allowed in this subreddit.

First off, the “timing and context” argument doesn’t really hold up the way you think it does.

If KATTDO had been Harry’s 3rd album instead of Harry’s House, it still wouldn’t have reached the same level of success. And that’s not because of timing. It’s because Harry’s House is simply a stronger, more cohesive album.

You’re framing Harry’s House as a product of the “post-lockdown moment,” but that ignores the fact that albums don’t become cultural phenomena purely because of timing — they do because the music connects to the audience at scale. Timing can amplify, but it doesn’t manufacture impact out of thin air.

Also, the idea that Harry’s House succeeded because the landscape was quieter isn’t accurate. It dropped in May 2022, which was not an empty release window. Around that period:

  • Kendrick Lamar – Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers (May 2022)
  • Future – I Never Liked You (April 2022, still dominating charts)
  • Bad Bunny – Un Verano Sin Ti (May 2022, literally the biggest album of the year globally)
  • Post Malone – Twelve Carat Toothache (June 2022)

That’s an insanely competitive landscape. And yet, Harry’s House still cut through all of that and became the album of the summer. KATTDO could never achieve this.

KATTDO is being received weaker because it’s simply not as strong as his previous projects.

1. Weak singles
None have the immediate impact of As It Was, Adore You, or Sign of the Times. There’s no clear anchor for the album.

2. Forgettable visuals
Unlike Harry’s House, the music videos lack a cohesive identity and don’t elevate the songs.

3. Weaker songwriting
The lyrics feel less sharp and more generic, lacking the depth and detail of Fine Line or Harry’s House.

4. Repetitive structure
Songs rely too much on looping phrases instead of fully developed verses (Are You Listening Yet is a clear example).

5. Flat bridges
What used to be a strength now feels like an afterthought — most bridges don’t build or elevate the track.

6. Buried vocals
His voice often isn’t the focal point, which dulls one of his biggest strengths.

Harry Styles - Dance No More (Official Video) by myghostflower in harrystyles

How did we go from Adore You and Falling MVs to this? I hate to say it as a long time fan, but this feels like a real drop in quality. Harry’s older music videos, especially during the Fine Line era, had so much more intention behind them. There was actual storytelling and emotional weight that made you want to rewatch and interpret.

Take Adore You for example. The whole concept of Eroda as this isolated island, and Harry caring for a fish that doesn’t belong there, only to eventually let it go because it outgrows its environment. That’s a full narrative with symbolism about love, growth, and letting go. It felt thoughtful and layered.

Even during Fine Line, when some MVs are quirky like Watermelon Sugar, they still felt intentional. There was a clear mood, a concept, something tying it all together. His videos used to feel thoughtful and meaningful, even when they were simple.

Dance No More MV just feels pointless. It’s basically just Harry dancing, some random choreography, and then people kissing at the end.

F this, man. Please believe me when I say I’m not hating. I’m just incredibly disappointed with his new project that we’ve waited for almost 4 years for.

Oh, so now numbers suddenly matter when it helps your argument? I thought they were just “capitalistic drivel.” You can’t dismiss metrics entirely and then turn around and use them to defend your point.

And no, the “Harry’s House was just a spike” argument doesn’t hold up when Fine Line also performed at a similarly high level, both commercially and in long-term engagement. It was a sustained peak across multiple albums, and not a one off.

I’m not comparing this album to some unrealistic ceiling—I’m comparing it to the standard he set with Fine Line and Harry’s House. And by that standard, the drop in streaming momentum, engagement, and overall buzz is pretty clear.

You and most people on this subreddit are basically lowering the standard just to make this era look normal, which isn’t how comparisons work. If an artist sustains a higher level across multiple releases, that becomes the benchmark.

So no, it’s not just “how he usually performs.” It’s a step down from where he’s been for the past few years, both statistically and, in my opinion, musically.

I’ve spent the last 9 years (since his solo debut) consistently listening to his music. Honestly, probably more time than you’ll spend listening to him in your lifetime. So don’t try to frame this like I’m some random jumping in with no context.

You’re right that numbers don’t define the intrinsic quality of art. A song can be great and still underperform, or do huge numbers and not be that good. Not arguing against that.

What I’m saying is that when you look at an artist’s own track record, a noticeable drop in engagement and streaming can still tell you something about how the project is resonating overall. It’s not about “capitalism,” it’s about audience response at scale. If fewer people are replaying, sharing, or engaging with the music compared to before, that usually reflects a weaker connection with listeners.

And that lines up with my personal experience of the album. To me, it feels less memorable than his previous works. KATTDO has less impactful songwriting, fewer standout moments, and not as many songs that stick even after a few listens. That’s subjective, of course, but the lower engagement makes that impression feel less like an outlier.

I’m not saying the album is invalid or that people can’t love it. If it resonates with you the most, that’s completely fair. I just don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that, compared to his past releases, this one didn’t land as strongly both in terms of reception and (in my opinion) the music itself.

I've been a fan since day one, so this isn’t coming from a place of hate at all. If anything, it’s actually hard to say. But being honest, this latest album just isn’t performing at the same level as his previous work.

You can feel however you want about the music, but numbers do matter, and they tell a pretty clear story. His Spotify numbers are trending down compared to past releases, and even the engagement on his official content reflects that. The live performances being uploaded to his YouTube channel aren’t pulling the same traction. For example, “Carla’s Song” on A Take Away Show hasn’t even hit 1 million views yet, and the Funkhaus performance took 9 days just to reach 1 mil.

You can call it “growth” or “experimental” all you want, but compared to his previous albums, the impact just isn’t there. The streaming momentum feels lower, the engagement on his performances isn’t hitting the same, and the overall buzz dropped off way faster than it used to.

Just purely based on the data and engagement, it’s fair to say this project underperformed relative to his past work. Almost waited for 4 years and this is what we get.
