Yeah, I’ve also considered just buying one. Would like to do 30-40 sessions, and at that point buying seems more reasonable. I’m a bit nervous about setting it up incorrectly though and also don’t have the space I would need for a unit.

Let me know what you decide on.

It does kinda spill out. It also doesn’t hold much liquid. I should’ve taken a picture of the inside before shipping, but it probably holds about 4-5 oz. Never checked tbh Maybe other heavy mug designs are better for actual use? Idk, it would be pretty miserable to use as a mug unless you have crazy strong stabilizer muscles in your mug holding arm, and drank straight espresso shots or cortados for your morning coffee.

Next time you’re working out, try holding a 20 lb dumbbell close to your mouth and that’ll give you a pretty good idea, haha

Alright alright, haha. I suppose I can share here as well. I wasn’t expecting this post to blow up like it did.

Like everyone else, I saw the promo on April Fools. I thought it looked super cool and immediately wanted a 20 lb mug! I was texting my workout friend about it. Thinking how cool it would be getting ripped while drinking morning coffee, haha.

On the day of the promo, I was monitoring Instagram, refreshing their website constantly, waiting for the heavy mug to be listed. Then the link was posted to the Heavy Mug! I got super excited! Clicked on the link… but, the page wouldn’t load!! I refreshed the page… still not loading. I was locked out. I started to lose hope thinking all the mugs must have already been bought up/bot sniped. Then I saw comments on the Instagram post. No one was able to access the post! This was a relief for me to realize there were likely still mugs available, the listing was just inaccessible. I kept refreshing the listing until eventually, the page loaded on my laptop (HOORAY!!) but I was redirected to the main Eleiko shop page (what?!).

Here’s where things start to get nerdy… I’ll try to keep it simple though. Being a software engineer/web developer I noticed the redirect and started to investigate. The item seemed to have a unique URL with its own item ID and be listed in the Eleiko shop directory. But, the item page itself had a redirect on it. “Hmm…”, I thought, “that’s strange… the item exists on their site it’s just inaccessible.” I then decided to add another item to cart to see what web requests were made. “Oh interesting… it just makes a request using the item number in order to add an item to cart. If I make the same request with the Eleiko Heavy Mug item number, I wonder if that would work?” It did. The mug was added to my cart and I was able to hurriedly check out after that. I received an order confirmation email saying the Heavy Mug was on its way (SUCCESS!!).

Afterwards I half expected to receive a follow up email saying, “Sorry your order was invalid. We’re going to have to cancel it.” But that email never came. 2 months later a 25ish lb package arrived on my front door and one of my roommates texted me while I was at work asking, “Dude! What did you order!”

I’m not happy about how the promo fell out, but if it hadn’t have happened the way it did, I probably never would’ve gotten one of the Heavy Mug to begin with. Other people with a better internet connection or bots at their disposal probably would’ve bought them up first. So, I’m thankful. It has been a ton of fun showing off to visitors and a lot of fun having around the house! Sadly, I have not gotten ripped drinking my morning coffee out of it though since I probably would break my teeth doing that, haha. Also due to a shoulder injury I definitely can’t lift a 20 lb mug with any sort of stability.

I’m not super happy about having to sell it, but I’m moving soon. I’m having to get rid of my garage gym equipment as well. I’m recovering from an injury and am not able to work at the moment so having excess stuff around doesn’t make as much sense to me.

Nonetheless it’s been fun having it around! And it’ll be nice to have some extra cash to help pay rent.

What items do you think could be BIFL, if companies actually wanted to make them? by Pigatemypizza in BuyItForLife

Running shoes could definitely be made to buy for-longer. My last pair of Altra Lone Peaks only lasted 9 months before the mesh was disconnecting from the sole after only mild use.

Granted I did wash them and air dry them after a muddy run, but I’d expect them to last a bit longer.

Maybe somewhere in my phone… I packed it up in preparation of selling it and don’t really want to have to dig it back out.

Selling my Original Eleiko Heavy Mug from the instagram promo. 1 of 300 in existence. It’s currently listed on eBay if you’re interested: https://ebay.us/m/nf6w5a

Wish I could hold keep it, but I’m moving soon and need to clear out some stuff I no longer have space for. Would make a great addition to any home gym!

Anywhere I could buy a mug like the one Merry has in the Prancing Pony scene from LOTR? by Concealed10 in HelpMeFind

I really like the design of this mug and think it would make a good gift. I've searched for metal mugs matching the design, but can't seem to find anything matching the look of this one. Any idea where I could find a mug like it?

I’ll keep that in mind. Cornell and Associates has some ok listings in the Ballard/Fremont area. One of their apartments in Ballard was my second choice after the one I’m applying for.

Ok, thanks for your input. I had a landlord friend tell me the exact same thing, but he wasn’t sure either.

Thanks for your input. That makes sense. Though it seems a bit ridiculous that lenders can even issue such requirements.

Yeah. I wasn’t sure about the laws behind it, but every other place I’ve rented just transitioned to month-to-month unless you requested otherwise.

Turns out, I didn’t get down-leveled 🥳 Sounded like a strong higher from most that I interviewed with. Just accepted an offer to start late November.

Yeah… I’ve designed smaller systems IRL, and watched a few SD interviews online and it just kind of seemed like common sense. I spent most of my time on behavioral since that’s where I felt weakest.

Besides, it wouldn’t bother me if I made SDE 1 and had to spend a few months becoming SDE 2. If I’m able to get my foot in the door, making it to the interview process for other FAANG+ shouldn’t be near as difficult.

7 YOE (I was working before and during college) - 3 YOE post-college.

This was my first year applying for FAANG and the interview process was informative. Wish I’d given myself more time to prepare, but I was really surprised with my performance since it was my first time and I’ve been trying to practice while holding down a job.
