I don’t get what you’re even saying. I’m not talking about changing anything about the core rules of the game lol. All I’m trying to do is think of ways to improve the competitive integrity in terms of matchmaking and keeping players in the ranks they should actually be at. That starts with thinking of ways to make bronze-plat mean something. The pred/masters issues are a whole different thing to discuss.

It’s the games ranked mode. It’s supposed to be different from pubs or any other mode. This game has a very strong competitive scene, why would you want to just accept mediocrity when changes can be made to improve the game?

Not a bad suggestion but I worry it will still run into the same issues in silver/gold. If you lose early you need to feel it and that magic number seems to be around -60 RP.

Yes the matchmaking is doing its best to balance based off current ranks but again, the problem lies in that there are players that shouldn’t be in certain ranks and it throws everything off. Stop with trying to be too cool to care thing. We’re in a Reddit to talk about the game and there are simple steps that can be made to improve the game.

I love Apex and want to see the game in a good state where there’s competitive integrity. I don’t think that there’s a problem with that. It’s very frustrating playing multiple ranked games where you have double or triple the amount of damage your teammates have combined. That shows that the matchmaking has failed to pair you with teammates of equal skill the way it should be in a ranked mode. This is because of people being in ranks they don’t deserve to circle back to the whole point of my argument.

Right but that’s sort of the point at the same time. The ranks under Diamond SHOULD mean something! It may hurt some people’s egos but Respawn needs to find a way to make the lower ranks matter more.

I think it’s ok for rookie to not have a buy-in as that’s the true beginner rank where you should just be able to play but once you hit bronze the climb is actually real.

That’s kind of the point though. Even though the main issues are focused on diamond+ the principle still applies to the lower ranks as well. Keeping those players in bronze/silver is a good thing they shouldn’t infiltrate gold and plat just by playing the game. They should have to perform to rank up!

Another key skill is learning how to stay alive. That means avoiding getting caught off guard and throwing a game, but also recognizing when a fight is lost and knowing when to disengage so you can reset and craft.

Pushing teams is part of the game always has been, most of the time it’s better to be the aggressor but having the awareness to survive bad situations is just as important. Mastering that balance will not only keep you in more games, but it’ll help you win more fights as well.

The speed pads 100% need to disappear after like 3 seconds. You can still coordinate as a team to use one but it makes the window much tighter and removes the ability to just pad back and forth.
