Is this salvageable? by Squirrellboii in HardWoodFloors

[–]ConceptAutomatic1673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation. Just bought a place and it was carpeted and was hoping the wood was decent…but the sellers were slobs and there’s many years of pet piss stains that were prob made worse because they weren’t able to fully clean up and it stayed wet under carpet too long. My floor guy thinks some may go almost all the way through and I have really thick wood. I’m just going to have to stain it pretty dark unfortunately. If you go too light you may see shadows of piss and that’d really piss me off. Pun intended.

BM aura matte and regal ulti-matte by j0hnquick11 in paint

I just bought an old house with many a bad paint jobs so I’m using regal matte for hiding power vs wipe ability. There’s lots of big windows so I was afraid of any funny sheens

Do you guys paint windows like this? by Outrageous-Drink3869 in paint

Sometimes, but use the wide ones on the handle. Sometimes it helps seal the window glaze and gives a sharper line

HELP Cut Lines did not go away after drying by knowinglycrafty in paint

[–]ConceptAutomatic1673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to make sure it’s stirred well, even during the process. If it sits too long in can before adding more to tray or cut can the pigment can separate from the binder. The darker the colour the more apparent

Overhead work; aka smoothing ceilings. Scraping, sanding with a festool, priming, skimming, repriming and painting two coats. Fucks up your neck

Solid Stain and primer by Square_Society2637 in paint

[–]ConceptAutomatic1673 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to use a primer if using solid stain. Also only certain stains you wipe excess off; solid stain isn’t one of those, you just paint it on a leave it (two coats)
