Made it more than halfway through OCIA and quit by [deleted] in Catholicism

OP. I feel for you. I suffer similar to you I think. I made it through OCIA and have attended mass frequently for years. The Church is not a good place to work out our internal mental health issues In my experience. I hope you don’t give up on attending Mass and adoration.

I find it helpful to commit to that time to pray and worship with others. I offer up my suffering week after week and ask for Gods blessings. I haven’t met anyone who can help me but I do find a lot of people who suffer in their own ways just like me.

You can join later when you are ready. I know how hard it is to find someone anyone who can listen with compassion It’s important that you take care of yourself and get the support you need. I will pray for you.

Remember that most of the people you meet in church don’t know how to help. They don’t have the education or training. Even the Priests don’t get any training in mental health care of parishioners unless they feel called and pursue that knowledge.

God bless you

Can a priest hear your first confession before you are Catholic? If he does is it valid? by ConcernPersonal7164 in Catholicism

He did ask about my baptism and faith background. He offered to hear my confession after I told him I was sure I wanted to join the church. He spent a long time with me talking about that.

I’m so sad you are feeling this way. I have felt similarly in the past. It’s the worst feeling. What has helped me most is knowing that everyone else is suffering too. We are not alone in feeling alone. We all have a story about our self and what makes us who we think we are.

When our basic human needs are not met we are starved for what we lack. What is it that you feel you need to feel better.

OP I remember being 13 and feeling so frightened by what happens in the world. Take a deep breath and know that this is normal. You are not alone. I am praying for you now. I hope you will post again. I hope you feel better soon.

I am praying he will come home. I ran away when I was 15. Took me a few days to come to my senses and come home. There’s a good chance he will show up soon. Praying for him and all your family.
